Monday Night Football in Week 8 has the Detroit Lions looking to bounce back at home against the Las Vegas Raiders. The Raiders are banged up at key positions with Maxx Crosby limited in practice all week with a knee injury, CB Nate Hobbs missed 4 weeks with an ankle injury, and Marcus Peters was limited in practice on Friday with a back injury. Jimmy Garoppolo is expected to return to the lineup this week.
On the Detroit side, guard Jonah Jackson, center Frank Ragnow, and RB David Montgomery were all non-participants in practice. You can read all of our Week 8 NFL predictions, but now let’s look at my favorite NFL player props for MNF.
Jahmyr Gibbs (DET) over 24.5 receiving yards (-114)

Rookie RB Jahmyr Gibbs is coming off his highest snap share of the season (87%) and although it was a blowout loss to the Ravens, he put up some big numbers. Gibbs saw 10 targets for 9 receptions and 58 receiving yards. The rookie RB should be in for another high-volume game with David Montgomery likely to be still sidelined and the Raiders defense allowing 7 targets and 5 receptions per game to opposing RBs.
The Raiders play zone coverage at an above-average rate this season and have excelled at it. I see this as an opportunity for Jared Goff to dump the ball off to Gibbs when necessary and take what the defense gives them. 0.5U

Jimmy Garoppolo is expected to be back under center for Las Vegas after missing last week’s game against Chicago. We’ve really only seen 2 full games of Jimmy G at QB and Mayer with starting TE snaps and in those games Mayer averaged 3.5 receptions and 57 receiving yards.
This Lions defense is allowing the 5th-most targets per game to opposing TEs and the 4th-most receptions this season. Austin Hooper has been relegated to backup snaps and Mayer should shine on Monday night with Garoppolo returning. This is a 1.5U play for me given how low it is and you can play it up to 24.5.
