One of the biggest games on Sunday’s MLB slate comes on the east coast, where the Boston Red will take on the New York Yankees in one of the best rivalries in sports on Sunday Night Baseball. The Red Sox have been an extremely inconsistent team over the course of the season, and that has shown up in this series, as Boston was disposed of in the series opener before putting up 10 runs in a victory on Saturday. On the other side, the Yankees are looking to close out the series and improve on their lead in the American League East.
To add a little more excitement to this matchup, I have pieced together my Red Sox vs Yankees Same Game Parlay picks at +435 odds. You can also get MLB picks on the side and total for Sunday’s big matchups.
Yankees -1.5 (-107)
Rafael Devers to record 2+ total bases (+135)
Red Sox vs Yankees Same Game Parlay odds: +435
Yankees -1.5 (-107)
To start off our Red Sox vs Yankees Same Game Parlay, we’ll go with the Yankees on the run line. New York is in a different class than its rivals at the moment, and the Yankees top 5 ranked offense should find a rhythm in this game against Boston starter Hunter Dobbins, and the Red Sox stable of inconsistent bullpen arms. Dobbins is 2-1 with a 4.06 ERA on the season, and his road outings have been noticeably worse than his home efforts, with his last road start resulting in just 3.0 innings pitched against the Brewers. It’s safe to say New York poses a much tougher test from a lineup perspective, and that will show itself to be true on Sunday.
On the other side, the Yankees are sending Carlos Rodon to the mound, who is 8-3 with a 2.49 ERA on the season. The advanced metrics back up the eye test as well, with Rodon sitting inside the top 10 percentile among all qualified starters in expected batting average, strikeout rate, WOBA and expected ERA. Rodon has repeatedly shown that he’s dominant at Yankee Stadium, having allowed just 2 runs over his last 25.2 innings pitched at home. New York has the better bats in this matchup, and the Yankees certainly have the more proven arm on the mound. All things considered, I’ll back the better team to close out the series and win by at least 2 runs on Sunday.
Rafael Devers to record 2+ total bases (+135)
For our second and final leg in our Same Game Parlay, let’s go with Rafael Devers to record 2 or more total bases in Sunday’s contest. The Boston slugger has historically fared well against the Yankees in his career, and this matchup should be no exception. In fact, while Rodon is the best pitcher the Yankees have used in this series, Devers has solid numbers against the southpaw, racking up 5 hits in 15 at-bats, with 2 of those hits going for extra bases. While I don’t expect Boston to ultimately win this game, Devers has recorded a hit in 9 of his last 10 games played, while clearing this total bases prop in 6 of the last 10 contests. I’ll bank on another solid effort from Devers tonight.
