It promises to be an emotional night in Oklahoma City on Tuesday as the Thunder receive their rings for winning the 2024-25 NBA Championship. Coming to town are the Houston Rockets who are looking to spoil the party.

I’ve prepared a Same Game Parlay bet for the season opener, catch the game live on NBC from 7.30 pm ET. Check our NBA Picks page for predictions on all upcoming games for the 2025-26 NBA season. Let’s get into my SGP bet now!

Houston Rockets Money Line (+235)

The hype around the Houston Rockets going into this season is real. Even though optimism has been slightly derailed by the loss of Fred VanVleet through injury, most analysts still have this team battling for the very top of the Western Conference. What better way to assert themselves than with a result on opening night against the defending champs? Kevin Durant faces the team in whose uniform he became a household name, it’s always extra motivating for a player when he faces his former team, especially when that team wins a championship. Execution on offense will be key for Houston. They were 12th in that area last year, after they basically replaced Jalen Green with Kevin Durant that number is expected to skyrocket. This is by far the tallest starting line-up in the NBA this season, so it is likely that the Rockets will dominate the rebounding department here. With the news of Chet Holmgren and Jalen Williams both potentially missing this game, I fancy the Rockets chances quite a lot here. I’ll be backing the road team in the season opener.

Kevin Durant to Score 20+ Points (-390)

Once upon a time Kevin Durant was seen as the player who will finally bring the Oklahoma City Thunder their first ever championship, and although that never happened he still remains very popular in that city. So far he has faced his former team a total of 6 times in away games, putting up stellar numbers of 30.5 points, 7.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists while shooting almost 52% from the field and over 42% from three. Scoring 20 points should be an easy task for the Slim Reaper, he capped off last season by doing this in 7 of his last 10 games and in 54 of 62 games played overall. Even at the age of 37, KD is still a difference maker on offense and the Rockets are hoping he will be the missing peace to their title challenge ambitions. Back him to drop a cool 20 in the opener.

Amen Thompson to Record 6+ Assists (+102)

A 6-foot-7 Amen Thompson isn’t your typical point guard, but in today’s positionless NBA he can definitely handle the rock and make some plays for his team. He might be the player under the most pressure on this Rockets team at the start of this season. Following the injury to VanVleet he is expected to completely take over the point guard duties as the Rockets are somewhat thin at that position. This has sparked a debate on whether or not Thompson is built for this role, but the oddsmakers seem to think he has what it takes to be one of the more impactful players in the league this season. He is currently listed as the player with the shortest odds to win the Most Improved Player award, that tells you just how much confidence everyone has in him at the start of the year. Getting to 6 assists in the opener will be a challenge, but with Kevin Durant and Alperen Sengun by his side, he has plenty of options to pass the ball to on offense. He capped off the regular season last year with 3 consecutive games of at least 6 assists, I have full confidence in him making the necessary adjustments and doing so in the season opener as well.
