The last series standing of the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs is one of the more intriguing of the entire postseason. The Canadiens will push for a dance with the Hurricanes in the Eastern Conference Finals, while the Sabres will play with desperation to get this game back to Buffalo for game 7.

I have picked out my Sabres vs Canadiens Same Game Parlay picks for Game 6 on Saturday, May 16, with lines and odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook at the time of publishing. Also be sure to check out our NHL predictions for the game tonight and EVERY game throughout the playoffs.

Under 6.5

Jakub Dobes over 25.5 saves

Sabres vs Canadiens parlay odds: +240

Sabres vs Canadiens parlay pick: Under 6.5

In an elimination game, the Sabres’ will do everything they can to avoid mistakes. The preservation mode of Buffalo should bode well for a lower total. There have been some lopsided numbers in the final scores of this series. Game 6 has the makings of a tight one, though. Elimination games tend to bring out a more conservative game plan for the team on the ropes. The Sabres ranked a respectable 10th in the NHL in goals allowed per game during the regular season. This team is no stranger to putting the clamp down on opponents. That is a strength they will need to find again on Saturday.

While Buffalo’s goal prevention during the regular season was better than that of Montreal, it is the Canadiens that have flexed that strength in the postseason. More on that below. But in these playoffs, the under has hit in 7 out of the 12 games played by the Canadiens, as well as in 4 out of the last 5 played at home. This team did a great job shutting down a phenomenal Lightning team when it mattered most. They now find themselves in another situation where if they can hold off their opponent, they will advance. Look for a game script that sees that Sabres play conservative, and the Canadiens lean on a strength that has been fruitful in these playoffs. That combination has the makings of an under.

Sabres vs Canadiens parlay pick: Jakub Dobes over 25.5 saves

Despite a very solid regular season, this postseason has been a bit of a coming out party for Jakub Dobes. He has certified himself as a league number one, and a reliable playoff goaltender. Of remaining teams and respective goaltenders, Dobes has faced the most shots by a significant margin of 122 shots over the next goalie. Tests have largely been passed with flying colors for Dobes in big games this postseason. But the appeal for this pick goes beyond his raw performance in these playoffs.

Similar to the under pick, the potential game script has a lot to do with the appeal of this prop. The Sabres will be desperate. Although they will likely play fairly safe and conservative, they should not be expected to pass up any possible opportunity to put the puck on net. There will be a few high-percentage opportunities that Dobes will have to answer. But there will also be plenty of perimeter shots with the intention of driving traffic and generating rebounds that should be easy for Dobes to save, simultaneously driving up the shots on goal and saves made. Montreal ranks 3rd among all 16 playoff teams in goals allowed per game this season. Dobes is a big reason why, and the pure matchup and situation bode well for another strong performance turning away a plethora of shots.
