Sunday Night Football in Week 9 of the NFL season is a showdown in the NFC between the Seattle Seahawks and Washington Commanders. It has been a tale of 2 very different seasons for these 2 teams. Seattle is 5-2, including 3-0 on the road. An injury-plagued Washington squad comes in with a 3-5 record.
Here is my Same Game Parlay for the festivities, which get underway at 8:20 pm ET on NBC. Also be sure to check out our full Seahawks vs Commanders predictions.
Seahawks -3 (-105)
Sam Darnold Over 241.5 passing yards (-113) and Over 1.5 touchdown passes (-157)
Jayden Daniels Over 227.5 passing yards (-112)
Parlay odds: +550
Part of the value in a Same Game Parlay, of course, is that all of its components can be correlated if you so choose. That is some of the plan here, as Seattle quarterback Sam Darnold having a big night at the office would obviously work well with a Seahawks win and cover. At the same time, plays that aren’t correlated drive up the overall payout of the parlay. That is the case with also backing Commanders QB Jayden Daniels to throw for his fair share of yards. But even he does, there is no reason why the visitors can’t take care of business. Let’s break down each of the 3 legs.
Seahawks -3 (-105)
The Seahawks are rolling along nicely, with 5 wins in their last 6 games. During this stretch they boast road victories at Pittsburgh, Arizona and Jacksonville. This team certainly won’t have any reservations about going into the nation’s capital and facing the Commanders. Washington has already lost once at home with Jayden Daniels under center, an unceremonious 25-24 setback against Chicago on October 13. Daniels has already missed 3 games this season, and his return is obviously a boost for head coach Dan Quinn’s club. Still, the former #1 overall pick has been unspectacular so far in year 2 – in part due to his own injuries and also because he is not getting much help. RB Austin Ekeler is out for the season and WR Terry McLaurin won’t be able to go on Sunday night. Jacory Croskey-Merritt was a brief revelation in the backfield while filling in for Ekeler, but he has done absolutely nothing over the past 3 weeks. Seattle is simply the better squad right now and has good value even as a 3-point road favorite.
Sam Darnold Over 241.5 passing yards (-113) and Over 1.5 touchdown passes (-157)
Darnold has been outstanding so far in 2025. Given his own numbers and his team’s record, the USC product is actually close to being in the MVP conversation. Darnold has completed 68.2 percent of his passes for 1,754 yards with 12 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. He has thrown for at least 242 yards in 4 of the last 6 outings and he has also tossed multiple scoring strikes in 4 of the last 6. Darnold now gets an extremely favorable matchup with the Commanders, who rank #26 in the NFL in passing defense and dead last in yards per pass attempt allowed (8.3). They have given up 15 TDs through the air – only 3 teams have surrendered more.
Jayden Daniels Over 227.5 passing yards (-112)
I’m banking on the Commanders playing from behind most if not all of the way on Sunday night, which would force Daniels to air it out. The former LSU standout has not gotten on track yet this year, but he has a start under his belt since his latest injury and he should be trending more toward 100 percent this week. This is a fantastic spot for Daniels to do damage in the passing game. The Seahawks are #1 in the entire NFL in run defense and yards per rushing attempt allowed (3.3), but they #23 against the pass. Croskey-Merritt’s struggles give Washington all the more reason to target the passing game in its attempt to solve Seattle’s defense.
