Blues vs. Wild First Round Playoff Predictions

Game 1: STL Blues at WPG Jets
Line: Jets -120
Pickswise Expert Picks: Jets Money Line/WIN

Winnipeg and St. Louis will face-off for the time in the playoffs, however, they are very familiar with each other having met many times throughout the years in the regular season. This is game one of the playoffs for both teams and both will want to get that all-important first victory that will set up the series moving forward. With both teams averaging over three goals per game on the season, this could be a hard pick in this game. Winnipeg was able to win all but one of their four meetings with St. Louis this season. The Blues were able to win their most recent match-up when only one goal was scored. The Jets are 4-2 in their last six games against the Blues at MTS Centre. It will be tough for the Blues to get the job done on the road, but lucky for them they won the last meeting that was played in Winnipeg. In game one, you have to roll with the home squad, and that is the Winnipeg Jets.

Game 2: STL Blues at WPG Jets
Line: Jets -120
Pickswise Expert Picks: Blues ML/ WIN

The Blues and Jets will square off in game two of their opening round of the NHL Playoffs. St. Louis was able to capitalize in game one sneaking out a 2-1 victory over Winnipeg at MTS Centre. It will be tough to repeat that in this game, but luckily for the Blues, they have some momentum with three-straight wins coming into this game. The Jets are 2-3 in their last five games. The Blues have won five of their last six games. St. Louis surprise game one win, definitely shocked much of the NHL world, and they now might have the mojo to possibly win this series.

The Blues are the underdog once again, but the Blues could still make game two as interesting as game one.  If St. Louis can take care of the puck once again, they could see themselves holding a two-game lead heading back to St. Louis for game three and four. A positive for the Blues is they are healthy and that can only help in the long run. The St. Louis Blues are the best pick to get the job done in game two.

Game 3: WPG Jets at STL Blues
Line: Blues -160
Pickswise Expert Picks: Blues ML/ WIN

The St. Louis Blues look well in command in this series after sweeping games one and two in Winnipeg. The Jets will have to find a way to respond in game three if they want to avoid being swept by St. Louis. The Jets will be without defender Josh Morrisey as he is out indefinitely with an upper-body injury. The Jets are 3-7 in their last 10 games, and enter this game with only one win in their last five games. St Louis is blazing on a current four-game winning streak along with eight wins in their last 10 games. The Blues have also now won each of the last three games against Winnipeg.

St. Louis is 24-15-2 at home this season, while Winnipeg is 22-18-1 away from home. With both teams averaging around three goals, we could see another high scoring game much like game two was. It has been a very interesting NHL playoffs this far, but the Blues have the mojo so they are the team to continue to roll with in this match-up. Take the Blues in game three.

Game 4: WPG Jets at STL Blues
Line: Blues -150
Pickswise Expert Pick: Jets ML/ WIN

It is time for game four in the Winnipeg Jets and St. Louis Blues series as the Jets face the Blues at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis coming off a much-needed game three victory on Sunday night. The Blues looked well in control of this series after winning both games one and two in Winnipeg, but the Jets responded with a win on the road in game number three. With six wins in the last 10 head-to-head meetings, the Jets were able to stop their recent struggles against the Blues. Winnipeg had lost three of the last four meetings against St. Louis.

The win also marked only their third win in their last 10 games. The loss ended the Blues four-game winning streak and was only the third loss for St. Louis in their last 10 games. Both teams will be without a player as the Jets defender Josh Morrisey is out indefinitely with an upper-body injury, while the Blues left-winger Erik Foley is out for the rest of the season with a concussion. The Jets should have some great momentum in this game after winning game three on this same ice. That is why the Winnipeg Jets are a good pick to get the win in game four.

Game 5: WPG Jets at STL Blues
Line: Jets -125
Pickswise Expert Pick: Jets ML/ WIN

The Jets and Blues enter game five of this series tied at two games apiece. After St. Louis was able to sweep game one and two in Winnipeg, the Jets responded by winning both games three and four in St. Louis to tie the series up. The road team has had the advantage the whole time in this series as the home team has failed to get a victory thus far. Winnipeg had struggled to enter these playoffs with only two wins in their previous six games.

After dropping two in a row to start the series the Jets have roared to life and that should get them on the right track in this key game five match-up. St. Louis is 10-4 in its last 14 games and will look to get back to the success they had in the first two games that were played at the MTS Centre in this series. Winnipeg is 13-5 in its last 18 games when playing St. Louis and will look to take this series back over. Back Winnipeg to get the win in game five.

Game 6: WPG Jets at STL Blues
Line: Blues -140
Pickswise Expert Pick: Blues ML/ WIN

Well its win or go home time for the Winnipeg Jets after they failed to once again win on their own ice in game five, and now find themselves down 3-2 in the series heading back to St. Louis for game six. The Blues were able to escape with a clutch 3-2 victory in game five to break the tied series. The Jets are currently 3-3 in their last six games. The Blues, on the other hand, have won five of their last seven games. It has been a difficult series for the home team as in each of their five games so far the road team won in each of those games.

The Blues have some momentum once again but can they capitalize on it. The Jets are 4-1-1 in their last six road games, while the Blues are 4-0-1 in their last five home games. Its the Blues series to win as they have gotten the job done in Winnipeg, now they just need one home win to get out of this series. That will happen in this one, and that is why the Blues are the team to back in game six.
