Super Bowl Gatorade Shower: Previous Winners & Trends

The Philadelphia Eagles took home the Super Bowl last season, and head coach Nick Sirianni was covered in Yellow/Green Gatorade, which closed as the odds-on favorite entering the game with a -165 price. However, Yellow/Green carried +325 odds as soon as the market was released on BetMGM last year, so it’s worth monitoring this market as we get closer to the Big Game. Although Yellow/Green was last year’s winner, the last 10 years have had a fairly even split, as Blue has won three times, while Yellow/Green, Purple and Orange have all won twice.

Although last year’s Yellow/Green color matched the Eagles’ green color scheme, this trend is quite uncommon. The Gatorade color has only matched the winning team’s color scheme six times since 2001. However, the Patriots have had a clear trend when it comes to Gatorade baths, as they’ve either had Blue, Clear or no Gatorade bath in each of their six Super Bowl wins. Clear/Water is actually tied with Yellow/Green with 4 occurrences since 2001.

Although Patriots head coach Bill Belichick was able to avoid the Gatorade bath in two of his Super Bowl wins (2002 and 2004), it’s quite uncommon for the game-winning coach to stay dry. The winning coach has avoided the Gatorade shower 4 times in the last 24 Super Bowls, and each time that has happened is because the game went down to the last play, and the players didn’t have enough time to prepare their Gatorade dump. Although this game could very well come down to the final seconds, I don’t think either group of players will miss the chance of dumping Gatorade on their head coach.

Here are the last 10 Gatorade bath colors:

Year Super Bowl Winner Gatorade Color
2025 Super Bowl 59 Eagles Yellow/Green
2024 Super Bowl 58 Chiefs Purple
2023 Super Bowl 57 Chiefs Purple
2022 Super Bowl 56 Rams Blue
2021 Super Bowl 55 Buccaneers Blue
2020 Super Bowl 54 Chiefs Orange
2019 Super Bowl 53 Patriots Blue
2018 Super Bowl 52 Eagles Yellow/Green
2017 Super Bowl 51 Patriots None
2016 Super Bowl 50 Broncos Orange

Now that I’ve broken down the latest Gatorade shower trends and history, check out the latest odds:

  • Orange (+215)
  • Purple (+260)
  • Yellow/Green (+275)
  • Blue (+400)
  • Clear/Water (+1200)
  • Red/Pink (+1200)
  • No Gatorade Bath (+5000)

Super Bowl Gatorade Shower Picks and Predictions: Blue (+400)

When it comes down to picking a Gatorade shower color, there’s only so much analysis you can do. However, the Pats’ color has been blue in 2 of their last 3 Super Bowl victories, and both New England and Seattle have a blue color scheme when it comes to their mascots and uniforms.

I don’t understand how orange and purple are leading the way, as they’ve been the colors at a lower rate compared to blue over the last 10 years. Therefore, I’ll pick a color with longer odds and wouldn’t be surprised if either team dumps blue Gatorade on their coach after winning Super Bowl LX.
