It will be a potential NFC Championship preview when the Green Bay Packers host the Washington Commanders on Thursday Night Football. There is, of course, a long way to go before we can start thinking about the playoffs. That being said, both Green Bay and Washington are off to 1-0 starts and they are projected to be 2 of the best teams in the league. This should be a fun one.
Here is my Same Game Parlay for the festivities, which get underway at 8:15 pm ET on Amazon Prime. Also be sure to check out our full Commanders vs Packers predictions.
Commanders +3.5 (-115)
Deebo Samuel to record 70+ receiving yards (+194)
Josh Jacobs anytime touchdown scorer (-210)
Parlay odds: +607
Part of the value in a Same Game Parlay, of course, is that all of its components can be correlated if you so choose. That is some of the plan here, as Washington receiver Deebo Samuel racking up his fair share of yards would obviously work well with a Commanders. At the same time, plays that aren’t correlated drive up the overall payout of the parlay. That is the case with backing Green Bay running back Josh Jacobs to score a touchdown. But even if he does, there is no reason why the visitors can’t keep it close. Let’s break down each of the 3 legs.
Commanders +3.5 (-115)
The Commanders went into this season with high expectations and did nothing to disappoint in Week 1. Against a dangerous New York Giants front 7, Jayden Daniels completed 19 of 30 passes for 233 yards with 1 touchdown and zero interceptions during a 21-6 win. Washington rushed for 220 yards as a team. As the score indicates, the defense was dominant. Obviously Green Bay marks a massive step up in competition, but at the very least the visitors should be able to be competitive. Following a Week 1 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2024, the Commanders did not lose another regular-season game by more than 1 possession. I’m simply not giving more than a field goal to a team as good as Washington.
Deebo Samuel to record 70+ receiving yards (+194)
Deebo was significant focal point of Washington’s offense in Week 1. His team debut hardly could have gone better, as he caught 7 of 10 targets for 77 yards and also scored a touchdown on his lone rushing attempt. I’m expected Daniels to once again target his new weapon early and often on Thursday night. Facing a potent Green Bay pass rush led by newcome Micah Parsons, Daniels will want to get the ball out his hands quickly. Slinging it to Deebo in the slot will be a good recipe for success against this Packers defense.
Josh Jacobs anytime touchdown scorer (-210)
There is not much value on the individual market at such short odds for Jacobs to score a touchdown, but it provides a big boost to this Same Game Parlay since it doesn’t correlate with Commanders +3.5. In this case, it’s a play worth making. Jacobs found the endzone once during Green Bay’s season-opening victory, this after scoring 16 touchdowns (15 rushing, 1 receiving) in his first year with the Packers. The former Alabama standout produced a whopping 15 TDs in the last 11 games of the 2024 campaign and ended the season on a 9-game touchdown streak. Count on him continuing it well into 2025.
