College football Week 12 is here in full force, as we are already less than 1 month away from conference championships. Four ranked matchups headline this week’s action, starting with Notre Dame’s trip to Pitt at noon ET. Then the Oklahoma Sooners will take the field in Tuscaloosa against the Alabama Crimson Tide at 3:30 pm ET, while the Iowa Hawkeyes and the USC Trojans kick off simultaneously from Southern California. Finally, the Texas Longhorns and the Georgia Bulldogs will go toe-to-toe in Athens at 7:30 pm ET in what will be the final ranked matchup of the day. As many as 14 other ranked teams will take the field against unranked opponents, hoping to avoid the dreaded upset.

There’s so much intrigue surrounding this college football slate, and I have locked in a 3-leg parlay in anticipation of all that Saturday will have in store for fans and bettors alike. Let’s analyze each leg with odds courtesy of bet365 before you check out the rest of our NCAAF predictions on 30+ Week 12 games.

Michigan State Spartans ML over Penn State Nittany Lions (+220)

If I would have told you Penn State and Michigan State would be mutually sitting a 3-6 in Week 12, you would have called me crazy – yet here we are. Penn State suffered another tough loss last week, this time at home against Indiana on the heels of an awful second-half showing at Ohio State. The Nittany Lions held an improbable 24-20 lead late in the fourth quarter with over a 90% win probability, but Fernando Mendoza and the Hoosiers had other ideas. Indiana walked down the field and scored the go-ahead touchdown in just 75 seconds thanks to an unreal toe-tapping catch made by Omar Cooper Jr. in the back of the end zone.

How does Penn State get up for this game? With 6 losses already, the best the Nittany Lions can do is reach a mediocre bowl game, and after 3 straight games against some of the best defenses in the Big Ten, exactly how focused on the Spartans will the Nittany Lions be? In my opinion, not very. On top of all that, Michigan State enters this game coming off a bye. While the Spartans leave a lot to be desired on both sides of the ball, this is a rivalry game with a trophy after all (Land Grant Trophy). Look for an inspired effort from Sparty at home, and the opposite for Penn State.

East Carolina Pirates ML over Memphis Tigers (-150)

Keeping the theme of disappointing Week 11 results, let’s include East Carolina ML as the second leg of Saturday’s parlay. If you read my opening line report, then you already know I like the Pirates this week – as the Tigers are in a very difficult spot coming off an emotional loss at home against Tulane. The loss effectively squashed Memphis’ season goals of winning the AAC and making the College Football Playoff, and now the Tigers have to travel way out to eastern North Carolina to play the Pirates – who are still in the thick of the conference title race.

ECU has been absolutely rolling offensively of late, and any offense with a pulse has scored almost at-will against this Memphis defense. Like Penn State, I have a tough time seeing how Memphis gets up for this game, especially if QB Brendon Lewis isn’t fully healthy.

Jacksonville State Gamecocks ML over Kennesaw State Owls (+140)

Jacksonville State quietly has one of the best home-field advantages in Conference USA. The FBS newcomers have lost just 1 one game home since being promoted before last season. In fact, dating back to their final year in FCS, the Gamecocks have lost just 2 home games outright – 1 of them to the undefeated 2023 Liberty Flames while the other came in their first game as an FBS team at the beginning of last year.

Kennesaw State comes into this game at an impressive 5-0 in conference play, but the Owls have had some close calls in recent outings. The game against UTEP was closer than the score depicts, while they barely survived at New Mexico State last week after a fourth-quarter surge from the Aggies. Now, the Owls have to play on the road for the 2nd time in as many weeks.

JSU RB Cam Cook has been one of the best backs in the country that no one is talking about. He leads the entire nation in rushing yards, missed tackles forced, yards after contact and explosive runs. Look for his production to propel the Gamecocks to a massive win atop the CUSA standings.
