The WNBA season is in full swing and we’ve got plenty of compelling games to get excited for on Wednesday. After escaping with a narrow victory over the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday, the Indiana Fever will take center stage against the New York Liberty, and we’ll also have a matchup between the Las Vegas Aces and Dallas Wings taking place at the same time. Let’s dive into our expert’s WNBA best bets for Wednesday, July 16, while you can also find out our early NBA Championship best bets for the upcoming 2025-26 season.

WNBA best bet: Kelsey Mitchell (IND) over 18.5 points (-110)

Odds available at Caesars Sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable at that number.

The Indiana Fever are fresh off a 85-77 victory over the Sun as massive favorites on Tuesday, a game in which the Fever struggled to put away one of the worst teams in the league. The sophomore season has been an up-and-down campaign for Caitlin Clark, and the season just got more complicated for the 2nd-year guard, as Clark appeared to aggravate a groin injury in Tuesday’s game. This injury has already caused Clark to miss some time this season, and it appears that things might get worse before they get better for the former #1 pick. Given that the all-star break is on the horizon, Indiana would be smart to rest Clark on the second night of a back-to-back, especially since the Fever will need to make a 2nd-half push to secure their playoff position.

Oddsmakers have moved the line dramatically following news of Clark’s potential absence, and I can’t quite get there with the Liberty laying nearly double digits in this game, especially with New York’s own injury concerns. However, with Clark’s status up in the air, I’m looking to target Kelsey Mitchell to clear this points prop number for the 9th time in the last 11 games.

Mitchell is averaging nearly 20 points per game on the season, and she should have the ball in her hands throughout the game, regardless of whether Clark suits up or not. The veteran guard is averaging 22 points per game over her last 10 contests, and she even put up 22 points on New York in the most recent meeting on June 14. Let’s go back to the well with Indiana’s most reliable player at the moment.

WNBA best bet: Paige Bueckers over 17.5 points (-108)

Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable to -115.

This is a game between a pair of teams that have largely been uninspiring all season long, albeit for very different reasons. Despite suffering some loses in the offseason, the Las Vegas Aces were still projected to be a surefire playoff team and a potential title contender for yet another season, and that simply has not been the case. In fact, outside of A’ja Wilson — who is playing at an elite level yet again — there isn’t much to like about this roster. On the other side, the lowly Dallas Wings have one of the worst rosters in the association, and it’s no surprise that they also sport one of the worst records in the league at the moment. With that in mind, I’m staying away from a side in this game and instead will focus on the Wings’ best player to stay hot against a mediocre Aces defense.

It took a few games for Paige Bueckers to find her footing, but over the last month, she has looked every bit like the future superstar she was projected to be after being selected 1st overall in the most recent WNBA Draft. The former UConn star has consistently put up All-WNBA type numbers in recent weeks, even if it hasn’t always led to wins for the struggling Wings. Most importantly, her shot volume has gone up, meaning that she’s playing with a ton of confidence and has the green light to take at least 15 shots per game. It certainly helps matters that Las Vegas is just 9th in defensive rating and points per game, and Bueckers tallied 19 shot attempts in the most recent meeting between these teams. Let’s back another guard to exceed her point total on Wednesday.
