The Colorado Avalanche and Vegas Golden Knights are set for what should be a wildly entertaining matchup on Friday night in Vegas. Both teams can score goals at an elite level, which means we could have a high-scoring affair on our hands in this one. Colorado ranks 2nd in the NHL scoring 3.73 goals per game this season. Nathan MacKinnon is off to a tremendous start with 17 points through 11 games. But he’s getting strong help as well, as Cale Makar, Martin Necas, and Artturi Lehkonen are all averaging at least a point per game early on in 2025. Vegas has some goaltending issues on their hands, as Adin Hill is out with an injury and Akira Schmid owns a subpar .892 save percentage. The Avs should be able to light the lamp at a strong clip in this one.

On the other side, Vegas is not far behind Colorado in the goals per game rankings. The VGK are scoring 3.70 goals per game, which is good for 3rd in the league. Jack Eichel leads all skaters in the NHL with 19 points, and the addition of Mitch Marner takes an already dangerous Vegas offensive attack to the next level. Marner has just 2 goals on the season, but he’s dished out 10 assists for 12 points through 10 games. Pavel Dorofeyev is also a major threat with 9 goals already. Colorado’s Scott Wedgewood started strong with Mackenzie Blackwood out, but he’s allowed 15 goals over his last 5 games. Getting back on track against Vegas is a tough ask. Look to the over in this one.
