Money Line Pick

This game will be the second half of a back-to-back between these two teams. The San Jose Sharks took the first meeting by a final score of 5-2. In seven meetings with the Los Angeles Kings this season, the Sharks are 6-1. They have owned them to say the least. The Sharks have been playing some very good hockey as of late, and because of this solid play, they are sitting just three points out of the fourth and final playoff spot in the West Division. In their last six games, they are 5-1. Their top players have been carrying the load offensively, and they will have to continue doing so if they have any hopes of making the playoffs, as they are not a very deep team. The Sharks have a little more to offer when it comes to offensive side of things, and I think that will give them the edge in this game.

The LA Kings are slowly falling out of the playoff race. They are 2-7 in their last nine games. Outside of one forward, they do not provide much of a scoring threat. Anze Kopitar is leading the way with 41 points for the Kings, and he only has eight goals. The next closest forward to him points wise, is Alex Iafallo, who has 24. This isn’t good enough if you are trying to compete in a tough division for a playoff spot. They will have Jonathan Quick in net who has seen the better days of his career pass him by. He has a 2.99 GAA and a .892 SVP. The Sharks should have no trouble scoring on him. I will be taking the Sharks on the money line.

Game Totals Pick

Four of the seven meetings between these teams have gone over the game total. The Kings last three games have all gone over. Neither of these teams are very solid defensively. The Sharks are allowing 3.26 goals against per game, and the Kings are averaging right around three per game. Both starting goaltenders have had poor seasons, and I think that will continue. With this game being the second half of a back-to-back, the players will likely be tired and that may lead to some defensive mistakes and more scoring chances at both ends of the ice. I was surprised to see a total of 5.5 goals from the books, and I will have to take advantage of that. Give me over 5.5 goals in this game.
