Samuel Montembeault will get the call tonight, and his start to the year has not gone well. The Quebec native is 2-2-0 on the year with a 3.26 GAA and a .857 SV%. These are inferior numbers for a goalie seeing no more than 30 shots on goal per night.

The Oilers come into this meeting having won 2 in a row and are looking to build some momentum. They are scoring just 2.57 goals per game, but their power play is strong — converting 25% of their chances. They are also limiting opponents to just 23 shots per game, yet they are 3-3-1 on the season. Stuart Skinner is expected to start this game, and his numbers have been decent. Montreal may not strike you as an elite offensive hockey team, but the reason it scored just 2 goals against Calgary is that Dustin Wolf turned into prime Dominik Hasek. We know Skinner can have his moments and Edmonton’s defense has holes. Edmonton will need to lead the way, but we should see a high-scoring affair that ends with the Over hitting.
