Rangers vs Red Wings Pickswise Expert Predictions

Money Line Pick
NY Rangers Win(-110)

The New York Rangers travel to Detroit to take on the Red Wings for the first time this season. Detroit comes into this game coming off a tough 1-0 loss to Vegas a few nights ago. The Red Wings offense continues to produce chances, but they don’t finish them. They score 3 goals per game, but that number should be higher. They need to do better because their goaltending is doing them no favors. Cam Talbot and John Gibson both have SV% below .900, which just isn’t going to cut it in the NHL.

For the Rangers, they are elite, as long as they don’t play on home ice. Their home goal-scoring problems were on full display a few nights ago, losing to Carolina 3-0. On the road, they are 6-1-1 and are capable of finding the back of the net. One thing does remain constant: goaltending. Igor Shesterkin has posted a 2.26 GAA and a .915 SV%, but has a 4-5-2 record. The Rangers are a good defensive hockey team, and with their road record, it’s not impossible to see them win tonight. We should see their offense come out with some urgency and try to take advantage of a below-average defensive Red Wings team.

Rangers vs Red Wings prediction: New York Rangers ML (-110) available at the time of publishing. Playable at that number or better.
