San Jose Sharks
Puck Line Pick
UTA Mammoth -1.5(+110)

The San Jose Sharks travel to Utah to take on the Mammoth for the first time this season. To say it has been a difficult start to the year for the Sharks would be an understatement. They are 0-1-2 and are giving up over 39 shots per game. All 3 of those games were on home ice, where they had the advantage of getting the last change. They also average just 21 shots per game and are allowing 5.33 goals against. It’s early in the season and it’s a small sample size, but the early numbers are very concerning.

The Mammoth come into this game averaging just 2 goals per game, but they’ve been very good defensively. This is still a young squad, so on some nights it’s going to be hard for them to score goals. Utah’s powerplay is operating at 6.3 percent, which doesn’t help. That being said, this is a great matchup for the Mammoth on paper. They are the better overall team and should be able to come out early and pound San Jose’s below-average defense. The Sharks need to find a way to defend better, and whoever starts in goal for them needs to do the bare minimum. I have very little faith that they will figure it out tonight.
