Money Line Pick

With their most recent victory against the New Jersey Devils, the Buffalo Sabres are now 2-1 against the Devils this season. The Sabres have much more to offer offensively than what they have been producing. Forward, Jack Eichel, has not been playing up to his potential as of late. Although tied for the team lead in points, he only has 13 in 15 games played. This is not enough production out of the superstar forward. They will need much more from him. With this being the second half of a back-to-back for the Sabres, it gives them a great opportunity to bounce back from their loss to the Islanders on Monday night. The Devils are a young team with not as much top end talent as the Sabres, and I believe this gives the Sabres an edge.

The Devils are currently riding a two-game losing streak, and although off to a respectable start to the season, I think we will see them come back down. A big reason for their early season successes, is goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood. Through six starts, he has a 4-1-1 record, with a 2.12 GAA and .918 SVP. They rely on him far too heavily to keep them in hockey games. I think they are out-matched offensively this game. The books are offering the Devils as favorites, and I think they are reading too much into their early season success. I will be taking the value on the underdog. Take the Sabres on the money line.

Game Totals Pick

Although the Sabres have been struggling to score goals, I think they should be able to find their offensive touch in this game. The over is 2-1 in the first three meetings between these teams. Neither of these teams are very good defensively, both ranking in the middle of the pack for goals against per game. The Sabres will be slightly tired, being on the second half of a back-to-back. This should lead to some defensive mistakes. They will be starting Carter Hutton in net, who has a 2.85 GAA and .898 SVP, which is not very good. There is some good value on over 5.5 goals, and I will be taking it.
