🏟️ NBA MVP Candidates for 2025-26: Who are the Favorites?

The list below will highlight five of the NBA MVP candidates for the 2025-26 regular season. This will focus on the NBA MVP favorites. Here we will provide the current NBA MVP odds for each of the NBA MVP favorites and compare these NBA MVP candidates in 2025-26 to other players on the betting board.

*PLEASE NOTE* – The players below were written about before the 2025-26 NBA regular season began. They do not reflect the current odds

Nikola Jokic NBA MVP Odds (+200)

The favorite for NBA MVP in the 2025-26 is Nikola Jokic from the Denver Nuggets. His odds to win NBA MVP are +200 at Caesars Sportsbook. Jokic has won this award three times (2021, 2022 and 2024) and just came up short last season, as he was the runner-up. However, he had a fantastic season, as he averaged 29.6 points, 12.7 rebounds and 10.2 assists per game, becoming the 3rd player in NBA history to average a triple double during the regular season (Oscar Robertson and Russell Westbrook). He led the Nuggets to the Western Conference Finals, where they fell to the Thunder, but Jokic will be back in the mix for the MVP.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander NBA MVP Odds (+350)

The player with the second shortest NBA MVP odds is Shai Gilgeous-Alexander from the Oklahoma City Thunder. He won the MVP during the 2024-25 regular season, and his odds for the 2025-26 season are +350 at bet365 Sportsbook. Last season, Gilgeous-Alexander averaged 32.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, 6.4 assists and 1.7 steals per game last season. Shai also won the NBA Finals MVP and will definitely be a good bet to win back-to-back MVPs based on the latest 2025-26 NBA MVP odds.

Giannis Antetokounmpo NBA MVP Odds (+700)

The NBA MVP odds in 2025-26 for Giannis Antetokounmpo are +700 at FanDuel Sportsbook, good for fourth-shortest on the betting board. During the 2024-25 season, Antetokounmpo averaged 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game. Giannis is an interesting pick for this season’s MVP because we’re not entirely sure what the Bucks roster will look like entering the season after they cut Damian Lillard this offseason. However, that should only give the Greek Freak more touches, so Antetokounmpo’s NBA MVP odds in 2025-26 are worth monitoring, and you shouldn’t count him out as a possibility to win NBA MVP.

Luka Doncic NBA MVP Odds (+800)

The NBA MVP odds in 2025-26 for Luka Donic are +800 at BetMGM Sportsbook. His NBA MVP odds are the fourth-shortest on the betting board. Doncic was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers last season, where he averaged 28.2 points, 8.1 rebounds and 7.5 assists per game. Although his overall numbers were slightly down from his time as a Dallas Maverick, Doncic recorded a career-high in 3-point shooting percentage at 37.9%. The 2025-26 season marks his first full season in Laker Gold, and getting 8-1 odds for a player that’s always in the mix could be worth a bet.

Anthony Edwards NBA MVP Odds (+1000)

Anthony Edwards is the lone newcomer to this list from last year, and his NBA MVP odds in 2025-26 are +1000 at DraftKings Sportsbook. These odds are fifth on the betting board, but he’s well ahead of the #6 spot (Victor Wembanyama at +1600). Edwards is coming off a season where he put up 27.6 points (career-high), 5.7 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 39.5% from three (career-high). Edwards specifically improved his three-point shooting, as he led the league in total three-pointers made (320). Edwards is new to the list for the shortest NBA MVP odds, but if he takes another step this year, he could take home his first NBA MVP in 2025-26.

NBA MVP Predictions: Who Will Win the Award in 2025-26?

Our 2025-26 NBA MVP predictions will focus on Nikola Jokic. Although he carries the shortest odds on the list, it’s hard to ignore how good the Serbian is. He almost won the award last season, and we think voter fatigue played a role in Shai taking it over him, but he should be right back in the mix. The Nuggets have the third-shortest odds to win the NBA Finals, and Jokic is the main reason for that. If he somehow averages a triple double again this season, he should take home the NBA MVP in 2025-26.

👀 NBA MVP 2025-26: Longshot Candidates to Watch

One of our longshot NBA MVP predictions this season is Joel Embiid from the Philadelphia 76ers. His NBA MVP odds in 2025-26 are +7000. Now, the Sixers big man has played just 58 games over the last two seasons and is coming off arthroscopic surgery on his left knee in April, but if the big man can stay healthy, getting him at 70-1 to win the NBA MVP in 2025-26 is an absolute steal. Embiid won the award during the 2022-23 season and has enough talent to will the 76ers to the playoffs this year. It’s definitely a longshot, but keep your eyes on Embiid and his health entering the 2025-26 NBA season.

🤔 How we Make our NBA MVP 2025-26 Predictions

One of the main factors that influence our 2025-26 NBA MVP predictions include the previous season for the different candidates. We look at their statistics and then their odds to win NBA MVP to determine if there is sufficient value on the player in question.

📱 How the NBA MVP is Decided

The NBA MVP award is determined by a panel of broadcasters and sports writers who are located in Canada and the USA. Each panel member is eligible to make five votes. The voting used is the 10-7-5-3-1 system. With this, first-place votes are 10 points, second-place votes are 7 points, third-place votes are 5 points, fourth-place votes are 3 points and fifth-place votes are 1 point. The player who receives the most points will be named the winner of the award.

📊 Trends & Statistics for the NBA MVP

Some of the trends and statistics to consider when betting NBA MVP futures include the following:

  • Points per game
  • Rebounds per game
  • Assists per game
  • Steals per game
  • Blocks per game
  • Field Goal percentage
  • Three-point percentage

Also, consider focusing on players who play for teams that are likely to make the playoffs. The NBA MVP rarely comes from a team near the bottom of the league, therefore the best options come from the top teams in the league.
