I appreciate that Army is tough to beat at West Point and the Black Knights just took care of Tulane last week when many had them on upset alert. In light of results, it's easy to come right back on them here. However, this isn't necessarily a favorable matchup for Army and we've already seen this movie once this season, believe it or not. I'll get to that in a moment but let's first talk about Florida Atlantic.
The Owls boast a high-octane offense averaging over 37 points per game and when they get going, they can get out to a sprint. Just ask Navy, Army's best friend. FAU jumped all over the Midshipmen before Navy made the 38-30 final look considerably closer than the game actually was. The Owls led by as much as 31 and that could be awaits Army because what does Navy do best? Run the football and lean into the option. Needless to say, that didn't work, at all. The problem for Army is that FAU can score quickly and rip off chunks of yardage which is bad news for the men from West Point. The Black Knights defense surrender a 128th-ranked 6.6 yards per play meaning if the Owls get downhill early, Army could struggle to keep pace, and the Black Knights may find themselves buried like their colleagues. That's the danger of this matchup. Then there's the price, as FAU isn't even catching a full field goal. That's the warning and I'm listening. Owls win this one outright.
