The Auburn Tigers have fallen a step back after defeating Georgia a couple weeks back. The Tigers are coming off back-to-back blowout losses against LSU and Ole Miss. The SEC schedule proves to be tough again, but Auburn will have a chance to bounce back with a win this weekend against the Arkansas Razorbacks. Arkansas currently sits near the bottom of the SEC with a conference record of 1-4. They have lost three of their last four games, with their only win coming against Vanderbilt, a team who is 0-5 in conference games. Arkansas lost their last game 34-10 against Missouri.
Auburn’s quarterback, Byrum Brown, has excelled after transferring into the SEC from the University of South Florida. Brown will most certainly hit a milestone of 12,000 career total yards in this game. He is the current active leader in the FBS in that category. Brown will have another great opportunity to succeed against a struggling Arkansas team. Arkansas’ main struggles have been on offense. They have failed to score more than 17 points in their last three losses, and have struggled building time of possessions. Arkansas quarterback, K.J. Jackson has been inconsistent, and his struggles may continue with his top target, Chris Marshall, listed as questionable. The Razorbacks are also one of the worst rushing teams in college football. They only average 105 rushing yards per game, ranking them 131st in the country. Arkansas’ defense has been better than their offense, but they have struggled against dual-threat quarterbacks like Brown all season long. Arkansas allowed Georgia’s quarterback Gunner Stockton to run for a season-high 97 yards, Utah’s quarterback Devon Dampier to run for 73 yards, and Texas A&M’s quarterback Marcel Reed to run for 66 yards. Brown should be able to join these quarterbacks who have excelled against Arkansas’ defense. With how poor Arkansas’ offense has been, I don’t believe they will be able to keep up if Brown can put some points on the board early.
