As the season sneaks into the second half, we look to some Saturday afternoon MAC play. Ball State will host Sacramento State, as both teams are seeking much-needed wins. The Cardinals picked up their first conference win last week with an overtime victory over Bowling Green, and they look to keep the momentum going at home. Sac State, on the other hand, is off to a brutal 0-4 start in conference play. The constant cross-country travel certainly cannot be helping, as they get on a plane yet again this weekend. I cannot bring myself to believe in the Hornets for really any reason, and I will take Ball State -14.
The problem for Sacramento State is, well, everything. They can’t run the call. They can’t throw the ball. They can’t stop the run. They can’t stop the pass. They have scored 10 points or less in 5 straight games. They will have to prove some competence before we can even attempt to back them. Ball St is not the cream of the Mid-American crop by any means, but they have been competent. With tough tests against Ohio St, Northwestern, and even Liberty, this team has pushed themselves. I would imagine a team like Sac State would be no big worry after all that. Give me the Cardinals to roll at home.
