We have Tuesday football in the CUSA as the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders face the Florida International Panthers. Both teams are 1-1 in conference play, including close losses to Jax State. Both are expected to be in the middle of the pack, and winning this game could go a long way toward sneaking into a bowl game down the road. An interesting trend so far is that both teams are 3-0 at home, but winless on the road, and that is part of the reason the FIU Panthers are favorites. Still, laying 10.5 points is a big number. I like MTSU with the points in this one.
Both teams have heavily rebuilt rosters, as is typical for these lower-tier FCS programs. FIU has a transfer QB from Appalachian St, and he has been fine. The defense has been the difference-maker for the Panthers though, and especially the secondary. MTSU has a respectable QB and passing attack, and they throw it better than they run. The key to this game will likely be the MTSU passing attack vs the FIU secondary. I think these teams are much closer to even, so I will take the points with the road dogs.
