Wyoming is coming off a brutal offensive performance, posting zero points on 162 total yards and only five completions in the passing game. In general, the Cowboys’ offense hasn’t had much to write home about in 2026, ranking 131st in FBS with only 293.2 yards per game. The passing game in particular has had its fair share of struggles, which plays into San Jose State’s favor, as the Spartans’ run defense has been its strong suit. Even including a game against top-25 USC, the Spartans allow only 123.4 rushing yards per game and should find success against a one-dimensional approach from Wyoming.
On the other side of the ball, San Jose State has seen more efficient play under center, proving capable of moving the ball downfield through the air. Luke Weaver has an 11:5 TD-INT ratio, though four of those came in a rough game against Fresno State. He bounced back with a 246-yard, two-TD, zero-turnover performance in a road win last week, and I expect a similar result against a Wyoming defense that ranks 116th in turnovers forced (3). I don’t see the Wyoming offense keeping up with San Jose State, so I’ve got the Spartans covering at home.
Wyoming vs San Jose State prediction: San Jose State -6 (-110) available at time of publishing. Playable to 6.5 (-110).
