BYU vs TCU Prediction, Odds and NCAAF Picks for Tomorrow

The TCU Horned Frogs host the BYU Cougars on Saturday night in Forth Worth. BYU is coming off a bye week after beating Colorado State, while TCU lost to UCF last weekend. The line on this game is somehow just -6.5 in favor of the Cougars, and that seems like a total mystery to me. BYU should be eons ahead of TCU right now, and the fact that this line is so small makes me deeply suspicious of a trap. It feels like Vegas wants us to do the obvious thing and back BYU. Why isn’t this line larger? Because we are playing in Fort Worth? That’s not one of the harder venues in the conference. Because there is some rain in the forecast? That’s only going to favor BYU. I don’t get it. So let’s find out why and take BYU -6.5.

BYU is a mauling team. They have an elite defense that is tough and nasty, and they have a run-first offense with a physical line. Their QB is built like a linebacker and seeks out contact, and they have one of the elite RBs in the nation. Meanwhile, TCU has struggled on offense so far. They have a transfer QB that has not been as good as they expected, and their running game has devolved into a lot of stretch plays. That works against slow defenses that are outmanned; it should have little success against BYU. I just don’t see where the advantage is for the Frogs. Give me BYU.
