There are obviously bigger games involving SEC teams on Saturday, but this matchup between Kentucky and Texas A&M shouldn't be flying under the radar as much as it is. Following an excellent 2025 season, the Aggies have seriously stumbled out of the gate, despite holding a 2-0 record. After all, Arizona State outgained Texas A&M last weekend by over 100 yards, while averaging six yards per play in the process. It hasn't been pretty for Marcel Reed either, as he's posted a 52.1 QBR through two weeks and appears to really miss his veteran offensive line from a season ago. Prior to a pair of fourth-quarter pick-sixes from their defense, the Aggies were very much in a dogfight with Arizona State last week, and it’s safe to assume that this week will present a similar challenge against a Kentucky team that has to feel like it let the game get away from them in the second half last week against Alabama.
Kenny Michey and the rest of Kentucky’s offense looked crisp in Will Stein’s first game against Youngstown State, and the Wildcats even held a lead in the third quarter against Alabama last week. However, things unraveled from there, but there is still talent on this roster and I believe in Stein as a head coach from a long term perspective. As long as Kentucky can cut down on the turnovers, the Wildcats should be able to move the ball on a vulnerable Texas A&M defense. And given the struggles of the Aggies offensive line, I could see Reed being forced into mistakes on Saturday — which makes grabbing the 17.5 points with Kentucky a very enticing proposition. Don't be surprised if this one is a bit closer than what the market projects.
