The Syracuse Orange are coming off a bye week with an 0-2 record against FBS programs, looking to get back on track on the road in Connecticut. The Orange kept things close against Cal and Pittsburgh due to an above-average pass defense. This time around, they face a UConn squad that has been rather efficient through the air but takes a run-first approach with over 180 yards per game on the ground. Syracuse was torched for 245 yards on 6.6 YPC in the loss against PITT, and I expect the front seven to struggle against the Huskies backfield featuring a dual-threat QB.
UConn’s Kalieb Osborne has been rather efficient, also leading the team in rushing yards. On the other sideline, there are concerns with Orange QB Steve Angeli. The senior has thrown five interceptions in the last two games, and it’s never a good sign having your head coach answer questions about the starter moving forward. Furthermore, Syracuse has struggled to finish drives, ranking 110th in FBS in red-zone offense, while UConn is tied for first in the country with 10 TDs and one FG in 11 attempts. With turnover concerns and red-zone struggles, it’s hard to see Syracuse pulling away and winning by a touchdown or more. I’ve got UConn covering at home.
Syracuse vs UConn best bet: UConn Huskies +6.5 (-110) available at time of publishing. Playable to +6.
