The San Diego Padres face the Los Angeles Dodgers for three games as the season winds down. Both teams are secure in their playoff positioning, but both are jockeying for potential home games in the postseason. The Dodgers trail the Brewers by 2 games for the top overall seed, while the Padres are tied with the Cubs in the wild card race. On the other side, the Dodgers’ pitching staff is fully healthy as we head to the postseason after dealing with injuries all year, and that includes Roki Sasaki — who will pitch on Tuesday in some form. Otherwise, the LA pitching plan is not very clear, as of the time of this writing. I am taking the Padres on the Money Line to open the series.
The Padres have won five in a row, and they will send Michael King to the mound tonight. He is riding a hot streak, posting eight consecutive quality starts. The Dodgers are still missing Shohei from their lineup, which also helps King. He is followed by one of the best bullpens in baseball, so I am looking for a great night on the mound from the Padres. The Padres intend to use Sasaki in the bullpen during the postseason, so he is likely to appear in that role on Tuesday, but otherwise, it isn’t clear what they are doing. Even if one of their many aces takes the ball, I still like the Padres to stay hot.
