It’s Game 4 of the NLDS, with the Padres trailing the series 2-1 after a much-needed win Tuesday night to avoid elimination. San Diego will look to extend this series to a decisive Game 5 as they send Walker Buehler to the mound. Buehler enters with a 9-6 record and a 4.63 ERA during the regular season. For the Brewers, they’ll counter with left-hander Robert Gasser, who enters with a 5-5 record and a 3.87 ERA.
Milwaukee has the slight edge heading into this matchup, with Gasser coming off a strong stretch. He went 1-0 with a 1.67 ERA in his last five starts. Buehler has pitched well for the Padres, going 1-0 with a 4.43 ERA in his last five starts, but he doesn’t typically pitch deep into games, which could be problematic for the Padres bullpen as they’ve been heavily utilized, leaving their options limited. The Brewers could have easily swept this series, but they couldn’t close things out Tuesday night. Still, with the slight edge on the mound and an offense that has consistently created opportunities, I’m expecting the Brewers to bounce back from last night's loss and finish off the Padres and advance to the NLCS.
