It's almost as if the market is waiting for the revamped Miami Heat to have their moment after stumbling out of the gate at 0-2. Despite two ugly defeats, there is still this anticipation that the Giannis Era will start to pay dividends. I'm not convinced we are there yet, but against a Charlotte outfit that got floored by Atlanta yesterday in a 47-point shelling, I can certainly understand the intrigue with Vice City.
However, here is what sticks out to me. Charlotte was catching 3.5 points against Atlanta yesterday with its outright price sitting in virtually the same range we're being offered here today. Here is the kicker, the Hornets are facing a Miami team perceived to be superior to Atlanta, got clocked by 47 yesterday, still have injuries to key players, and we're getting essentially the same number with the Buzz City? Something doesn't add up. Miami looks like the obvious choice, particularly after Charlotte's embarrassing defeat. However, Miami hasn't demonstrated that it deserves to be priced above Atlanta. The Heat are coming in off a debacle of their own yesterday against Detroit in South Beach. Nevertheless, the price is practically begging us to believe Miami gets off the mark. I'm not buying it. The Heat fall to 0-3, and the press descends on Eric Spoelstra like flies on rotten fruit.
Heat vs Hornets prediction: Charlotte Hornets ML (+135) available at time of publishing. Playable to +125.
