The Minnesota Timberwolves have quickly become one of the biggest storylines in the NBA after an emphatic opening night victory over Miami. Anthony Edwards looked every bit like an MVP candidate, exploding for 45 points, while LaMelo Ball fit seamlessly into his new role by providing 21 points and six assists in his Timberwolves debut. That dynamic backcourt immediately captured the attention of fans around the league, and it's easy to understand why expectations have skyrocketed. Minnesota looked explosive offensively, played with confidence from the opening tip, and suddenly appears to have one of the league's most entertaining duos. After a performance like that, it's only natural that public perception swings heavily in the Timberwolves' favor heading into Game 2.
That's exactly why there's value on the Orlando Magic. The Magic dropped their opener to Atlanta after a disappointing fourth quarter despite another outstanding performance from Paolo Banchero, who finished with 35 points, while Franz Wagner and Wendell Carter Jr. also played well in the loss. Orlando had opportunities to close out that game but couldn't make enough plays down the stretch, making this an ideal bounce-back spot on its home floor. Minnesota is certainly capable of winning this game, but it's difficult to ignore how much the betting market can overreact after one impressive performance. The Timberwolves are receiving plenty of attention after dismantling Miami, while Orlando enters with a bit of urgency after letting its opener slip away.
