After winning the SEC regular season and conference tournament title, Alabama checks in as one of the favorites to win the national title for the first time in program history. Alabama was rated highly by most of the predictive metrics this season, including at KenPom, where the Crimson Tide were listed as 3rd overall. Alabama ranked 19th in offensive efficiency and 3rd in defensive efficiency at KenPom. The Crimson Tide averaged 82.2 points per game in the regular season, and finished 18-14-1 against the spread on the season.

The Crimson Tide have a clear and obvious star in Brandon Miller. Miller was the SEC player of the year and had a terrific season, averaging more than 19 points per game. He’ll be joined by Mark Sears, Noah Clowney and Jahvon Quinerly.

The Crimson Tide have played a difficult schedule which should prepare them for an extended March Madness run. Their path isn’t the easiest, but there is a roadmap for Alabama to get to Houston. A potential Round of 32 matchup against West Virginia or Maryland won’t be a walkover, but their potential Sweet 16 matchups are all favorable. Ultimately, I see Alabama as a slam-dunk Elite Eight team with serious potential to cut down the nets. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if the Crimson Tide can advance to Houston and win their first title.
