Following a wild Saturday of action on the hardwood, college basketball will take center stage on the calendar once again on Sunday, February 24. With just one week remaining in the regular season, Sunday’s slate is headlined by a CBS doubleheader — as Purdue takes on Ohio State at 1:30 pm ET before a compelling matchup between the Michigan State Spartans and Indiana Hoosiers at Assembly Hall at 3:45 pm ET. I have settled on my college basketball best bets for Sunday’s action, and it happens to come in the Big Ten.

Let’s break down our college basketball best bet for tonight’s games, and don’t forget our NCAAB predictions for all of the biggest college hoops matchups every day throughout the season as we inch ever closer to March Madness.

College basketball best bet: Indiana Hoosiers +3.5 vs Michigan State Spartans (-110)

Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable to Indiana +3.

From a situational perspective, this is one of the best spots of the entire weekend, and I intend to take advantage. Indiana is still projected to be in the NCAA Tournament field as of this weekend, but the Hoosiers are certainly tempting fate in that department following a string of 3 consecutive losses to the likes of Illinois, Purdue and Northwestern, with 2 of those defeats coming in blowout fashion. Conversely, Michigan State has won 3 straight contests and is coming off a rousing 76-74 victory over Purdue at Mackey Arena just a few days ago. That was the biggest result of the season for Tom Izzo’s team, and it wouldn’t be shocking in the slightest if the Spartans came out a bit flat in what is a pretty sleepy spot on the road.

Not only should Indiana have the clear situational and motivational edge in this game, but the Hoosiers also have some real matchup advantages that can put them over the top on Sunday. Michigan State’s offense (40th in adjusted efficiency) has been a work in progress all season long, and while the Spartans have improved in the halfcourt in recent weeks, this is still a team that struggles to generate quality looks without the aid of the offensive glass. Indiana’s defense makes a great foil for this type of opponent, as the Hoosiers are one the of the best teams in the nation at defending in transition, especially at home. With that in mind, Michigan State’s offense could struggle to get quick buckets, and if Indiana is able to drag this one into the mud, the Hoosiers are certainly live to spring the upset. With that in mind, I’ll grab the points with Darian DeVries’ side at home.
