Sunday’s MLB playoff action has just 1 game on deck but it is a good one. Two in-state division rivals are going head-to-head for a chance to go up 1-0 in the series. You can read our MLB predictions for Rangers-Astros, but now let’s dive into the best MLB player prop bets for Sunday, October 15.

Jordan Montgomery, TEX, Under 1.5 walks (-105)

Odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing.

Jordan Montgomery has impressed me in this postseason, primarily in his first start, when he dished out 7 innings of shutout baseball and surrendered no walks. In the following round, Montgomery struggled against the youth-driven Baltimore Orioles. His 9 hits allowed were the second-most he has given up this season. He neared 30 pitches in the 1st inning, which resulted in him being pulled after just 4 innings. Against the Houston Astros tonight, I’m banking on Montgomery limiting baserunners via the walk.

We’ve done into short leashes for starters this postseason, and we’re going right back to it. Montgomery’s outs line is set at just 14.5 with vig on the over. If he doesn’t have his best stuff, Montgomery will be pulled in an instant and the ball handed to the Rangers bullpen, which has a 2.16 ERA in this postseason.

From a BB% perspective, Montgomery has been impressive all season. He ranked in the 82nd percentile in BB% and stayed under this line in 20 of 34 starts. The Astros are filled with lethal hitters throughout their lineup who can work counts, but Montgomery stayed under this line in his only start against them this season. That includes a rich history against the top of the order. Jose Altuve, Alex Bregman, Yordan Alvarez and Kyle Tucker have just 1 walk in 35 at-bats.
