Best NBA Bets Today: Odds & Picks for every game on Saturday, January 31

Long-time NBA fan, following the game closely for 21 years now. Joined the Pickswise writing staff for the 2020-21 season and have given out winning picks since. Hopefully we can make some money together! Oh, and I firmly believe Lebron James is not one of the two best basketball players of all time. Yeah, I said it. January ends with a bang in the NBA as 12 teams hit the NBA hardwood this Saturday. We have an early tip-off as well, starting at 6 pm ET between the San Antonio Spurs and Charlotte Hornets. The game of the night is in Houston as the Rockets welcome Cooper Flagg and his Mavericks, tipping-off at 8.30 pm ET live on ABC.

I did a deep dive in all 6 match-ups, coming up with my NBA Best Bet for every single game. Odds are courtesy of FanDuel, visit our NBA Picks page for picks on the side and total on all games. Now let’s jump into my bets!

Spurs vs Hornets Best Bet: Devin Vassell Over 2.5 Rebounds (-162)

Vassell has made bettors a lot of money this season. He has cleared this line in 29 of 35 games played which is an unreal success rate of 83%. I’m going to continue backing him on a nightly basis, especially against teams like the Charlotte Hornets. Only one team in the entire NBA allows more rebounds to opposing shooting guards than the Hornets do, so let’s hope Vassell can add to his impressive run here.

Hawks vs Pacers Best Bet: Bennedict Mathurin 2+ Made Threes (-152)

Mathurin has been one of the rare positives for the Indiana Pacers this season, ranking 2nd on the team in scoring only behind Pascal Siakam. His three-point shooting has played a major role in him achieving that feat. He’s shooting almost 38% from deep this season, almost a 4% increase compared to last year. He enters Saturday’s game after clearing this line in back-to-back games vs Atlanta and Chicago, he’s done it in 19 of 26 games played this season (73%).

Pelicans vs 76ers Best Bet: 76ers -10 (-112)

Although the Pels celebrated a win over Memphis last night, they now head to Philadelphia without having any rest in between games. The Sixers just beat the Kings thanks to 40 points from Maxey and 37 from Embiid. With both of them healthy for Saturday’s match-up, I anticipate the Sixers to handle their business without (m)any issues here. The Pelicans have a losing 2-6 SU record in 8 games without rest this year.

Bulls vs Heat Best Bet: Josh Giddey Over 17.5 Pts (-122)

It’s unclear if he will play here, but if he does I am expecting big things from Josh Giddey. He’s cleared this line in 22 of 34 games this season (65%), the Bulls rely on him heavily to kickstart their offense. Miami has had issues on defense vs opposing Shooting Guards this year, they rank 6th for points allowed to that position. Norman Powell could be out as well, that’ll make life a lot easier for Giddey on both ends.

Timberwolves vs Grizzlies Best Bet: Timberwolves -7.5 (-112)

Minnesota is heating up after winning a 3rd consecutive game, beating the OKC Thunder by 12 points at home. They now head to Memphis for a date with the Grizzlies who just played last night and lost at New Orleans by 8 points. It was their 5th consecutive loss, in games played without rest this season they are just 2-3 SU and with all the injuries hitting them it’s really hard to trust them against the surging T’Wolves here.

Mavericks vs Rockets Best Bet: Mavericks +11 (-110)

Dallas has been a reliable bet lately with a 5-2 ATS record in 7 games played. They are down 2-1 in the regular season series vs the Rockets, however 2 of those games were decided by single digits. After seeing Cooper Flagg go off for 49 points and 10 boards in the loss to Charlotte, I feel confident he can keep the Mavs in this game until the very end.
