Like most Lithuanians, I started watching basketball from the age of six. I'm based out in London and played basketball at the University of Lincoln here in the UK. I had always had an interest in the NBA but things really took off in the summer of 2010. That year Linas Kleiza led Lithuania to 3rd place at the World Championships and signed with the Toronto Raptors to replace the departing Chris Bosh. I've been a Raptors fan since that day and I've not missed a game since. I've been handicapping games for more than a decade, specializing in player props. The NBA conference semifinals continue on Wednesday night and the New York Knicks will welcome the Miami Heat in the first game of the TNT doubleheader. With the incredible form that Jimmy Butler is showcasing in this postseason, they will have a fight on their hands to keep their season alive. That will be followed by the Golden State Warriors hosting the Los Angeles Lakers. The Warriors are coming into this after a tight Game 4 loss but should relish being on their homecourt once more.

Heat vs Knicks first basket best bet: Julius Randle (+470)

Bam Adebayo was able to win the opening tip against Mitchell Robinson in Game 1 of the series. He has failed to do so since for the Heat. That sort of streak should put the Knicks in a great position to get the opening possession once more. In each of the last 2 games, the Knicks have put the ball in the hands of Julius Randle first. While he failed to convert on either occasion, it could be third time lucky for the forward, who continues to go up against Kevin Love. The aging Heat forward has never been known as a terrific on-ball defender. He has the worst defensive rating of any Heat player in this series and should continue to be a target from the get-go. With their season on the line, expect the Knicks to try to get Randle going early.

Lakers vs Warriors first basket best bet: Austin Reaves (+1300)

After losing the opening tip to Kevon Looney in Game 1, Anthony Davis has found it much easier since to gain the opening possession of the night for the Lakers. With the Warriors opting to go small, they have had JaMychal Green and Draymond Green jumping for tip and Davis has had the upper hand on both. I expect that to continue tonight. That should make Austin Reaves an great value selection to make the first shot.

The Warriors have been forcing the ball away from Davis, asking someone else on the Lakers to beat them and Reaves could benefit. In Game 4, he attempted just 1 fewer field goal than the Lakers superstar. Considering he has somewhat struggled for efficiency in this series, do not be surprised to see the Warriors drop off from him and he certainly has the skillset to convert. The Lakers also have the best defensive rating in this postseason so he could have multiple attempts at this.
