Derrick White will be a crucial piece for the Boston Celtics come playoff time. He was acquired last off-season but struggled to find his footing. He shot 36% from the field in the postseason and averaged 8.5 points per game. This season, he’s been leaned upon much more. He’s started 48 games due to Marcus Smart, Jaylen Brown and Robert Williams missing parts of the season and has taken advantage of the opportunity. White is shooting a near 40% from 3-point range and continues to be a menace on the other side of the ball, and that’s exactly where we are targeting the 28-year-old guard.
Blocks and steals props can be tricky, especially for a guard, but White has showcased his defensive ability all season long. He’s averaging 1.6 blocks and steals per game and is over this line in 30 of 56 games. In the last game against the Charlotte Hornets, the Celtics were without Smart, Brown and Al Horford. White blocked three shots and was able to register a steal as well. He’ll be called upon again with Smart and Brown being out of the lineup.
White is consistently seeing 35+ minutes per game without the Celtics’ backcourt intact. In games where he’s played at least 32 minutes, White is over this line in 10 of 14 games, including 5 of 7 at TD Garden.
