D’Angelo Russell defended Stephen Curry to start the game and head coach Darvin Ham realized he had to adjust. Jarred Vanderbilt came up huge as he chased Curry around screens all night, and Russell was key on the other end. After scoring 7 points in the 1st half, Russell came out of halftime with a vengeance. He scored 10 points in the 3rd quarter and pushed the Lakers to a substantial lead. A ton of the Warriors’ attention is occupied by Anthony Davis in the middle or the pick and roll. Russell is taking full advantage of the Warriors’ scheme.
D’Lo recorded 6 assists on 11 opportunities in Game 1. Darvin Ham continues to let Russell control the offense with shot creators LeBron James and Austin Reaves on the perimeter. Russell has cashed in on this prop in 5 of 8 games this postseason and 5 of 6 when playing at least 30 minutes. Expect a high-volume Russell in Game 2.

Kevon Looney (GSW) Over 3.5 Assists (-120)

Kevon Looney has cemented himself as the most underrated player this postseason. His relentless effort on the offensive glass has created countless second-chance opportunities for the lethal Golden State Warriors. Even against Anthony Davis, Looney reeled down 7 offensive rebounds and was able to kick it back out to shooters.
Looney recorded 5 assists in Game 1 on 12 opportunities. He’s the best matchup for Davis on the Warriors who have little to no size with Looney off the court. Barring any foul trouble, Looney will see 30 minutes tonight. In 30+ minutes of action this postseason, Looney is over this line in 5 of 6 games. The big man for UCLA will look to not only pay us prop bettors but also himself with an extension in the coming years.
