Two Game 5’s are on deck Sunday. The Boston Celtics and Denver Nuggets both lead their respective series 2 games to 1 and will look to travel back home with a 3-1 lead. Joel Embiid and Kevin Durant may have something to say about that. The two superstars headline our top NBA player prop bets.

Joel Embiid (PHI) Over 0.5 Three-Pointers (-120)

Line available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing.

The MVP is on the brink of elimination. After an emotional MVP speech before tip, Joel Embiid attempted a quick three in the opening minute but missed. It took until a couple of minutes into the 3rd quarter for Embiid to convert from long-range. Today should be much of the same. Give the ball to Embiid and clear out. This means at the top of the paint too.

The 76ers need to go back to the patented James Harden and Embiid pick-and-roll. Harden looked scared to shoot in the paint and passed up multiple floater opportunities. The Celtics will be content with Embiid fading off a screen and giving him an open three versus the other four shooters the 76ers surround him with.

The rust is off, and Embiid will be looking at 35 minutes today. During the regular season and postseason when Embiid plays 35+ minutes, he’s over this line in 27 of 39 games.

Kevin Durant (PHX) 30+ Points (-129)

Line available at Caesars Sportsbook at time of publishing.

Devin Booker put on a show in Game 3 while Kevin Durant struggled from the field, but he found himself living at the free-throw line. He converted on 14 of 16 attempts and scored 39 points. Nobody expects Durant to shoot 12 of 31 from the field again in the biggest game of the season.

Without Chris Paul and a disgruntled Deandre Ayton, the offense is all on Booker and Durant. He’s in line for another 25+ shot attempts. Flying back to Denver, with a potential 3-1 series deficit, is not what Durant and the Suns want.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (DEN) under 1.5 Three-Pointers (-120)

Line available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope has a perfect role in Denver. Sit in the corner while either Nikola Jokic gets double-teamed in the paint or Jamal Murray penetrates. One of my favorite NBA player props to attack is role players who have massive road and home splits. Kevin Huerter is a great example. He shoots the lights out in front of the Kings’ faithful but away from home, his three-point percentage takes a hit. Pope doesn’t see a drastic drop, but he’s only over this line in 18 of 40 games on the road compared to 25 of 44 at home.

Pope is coming off only attempting two shots from deep and missed both. Bruce Brown and Christian Braun continue to excel in their roles on their own. Pope and his +/- of -12 was the only starter to not be positive on the court in Game 3.
