I've been a capper since my love for sports met my proficiency with numbers and math. The NFL and NCAAF have always been my first loves, followed by the NHL. Although I prefer sports that involve hitting people, I still love capping MLB, soccer, tennis, and even some esports. Living in Florida has its perks like year-round sports of any kind. The middle of the week provides us with a slim NHL slate. We have 6 games on the board, and some great ones at that. The Maples Leafs vs Oilers may very well be a Stanley Cup Finals preview and the Devils will be debuting newly acquired Timo Meier. It’s set to be an exciting night on the ice, and we’ve found 2 great spots for the player prop market. Keep an eye on Meier’s usage and a few other players on new teams, but we’re going with some tried and true skaters. Along with our player props, be sure to check out all of our NHL picks for today’s action.

These props have the best odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook, and if you sign up right now, then you can bet $5 and get $150 in bonus bets if your team wins! Head over to DraftKings now by clicking this link.

Jason Robertson over 0.5 goals (-105)

We’ve got 2 goalscorer props for you tonight, and neither of them will come as much of a surprise. Despite being just 25 years old, Robertson has become the face of the Dallas Stars, and they’ll be looking to bounce back from a recent upset. They fell to the Vancouver Canucks in overtime on Monday night. However, advanced metrics per MoneyPuck projected them winning that game 87.8% percent of the time with an expected goals score of 5.15 to 2.07.

The bottom line is that they didn’t have the bounces go their way, but now they get another strong matchup on home ice. They’re welcoming in the Arizona Coyotes, who are already one of the worst teams in hockey. On top of that, they’ll be on the 2nd night of a back-to-back after having been in Arizona last night. They’ve allowed the 7th-most goals over the last month and the 8th-most overall. That’s in part due to the Stars, who have defeated them by a combined score of 11-2 this season. In their first matchup, Robertson scored 2 goals. After getting a bit unlucky even with 5 shots on goal Monday night, we’ll trust him to find the back of the net tonight.

Alex Ovechkin over 0.5 goals (-110)

The Washington Capitals take the long trip to Anaheim to battle the Ducks tonight. However, that’s about the only negative for them. The Ducks’ defense has been dreadful all season, allowing the most shots and goals per game, and it isn’t close. That’s a perfect recipe for a fantastic game out of Alex Ovechkin. He just ended his longest scoring drought of the season (6 games) with a goal against the Buffalo Sabres on Sunday. Now he’ll be looking to lead the team in getting their revenge.

The Caps were shockingly upset by the Ducks on home ice just a few days ago. That was Ove’s first game back after missing 4 matchups due to the death of his father. While he didn’t score a goal in that contest, he had 5 shots and each one was considered a “high danger” shot attempt. Therefore, it’s no surprise that he’s 6th in the NHL in terms of expected goals. Let’s also not forget that he has 813 career goals as he continues his quest to break the all-time record of 894 by the great Wayne Gretzky. We’re anticipating that the ‘Great 8’ will get one goal closer in that journey against a bad defensive Ducks team tonight.
