I've been a capper since my love for sports met my proficiency with numbers and math. The NFL and NCAAF have always been my first loves, followed by the NHL. Although I prefer sports that involve hitting people, I still love capping MLB, soccer, tennis, and even some esports. Living in Florida has its perks like year-round sports of any kind. There are just 3 NHL games on the board tonight, but that still means 6 teams and plenty of skaters. With fewer sides and totals to target, player props may be your preferred market for tonight’s slate. We’ve gone through the matchups on the ice and have our eyes set on a skater that has come through for us time and time again. It’s our one and only top play for tonight, but we’re never going to force plays either. We have a huge 13-game slate tomorrow, so there are many more opportunities in the very near future. Along with our player props, be sure to check out all of our NHL picks for today’s action.

Kirill Kaprizov over 1.5 points (+115)

We know this is a name you’ve seen a few times already this season, but targeting him again tonight is far from a lack of effort for variety. Let’s not forget that in just his 2nd career season, Kaprizov had the 4th-most points in the NHL last year with 108. That was more than Auston Matthews who had the most goals with 60 and even future Hall-of-Famer Steven Stamkos. He’s currently tied for the 9th-most this season with 36 through 29 games, and that’s even after this slow stretch. By slow, that means recording a point in 6 of his last 7 games. However, this is the longest stretch of not only this season but also of last season, without recording multiple points.

We anticipate him to break that streak against a terrible Chicago Blackhawks team tonight. They just allowed a hat-trick to Alex Ovechkin their last time on the ice to allow him to notch his 800th goal. The Washington Capitals ended up scoring 7 goals on Chicago that night, which certainly bodes well for Kaprizov and the Wild tonight. The Blackhawks are now allowing the 6th-most goals per game overall, but have been far worse as of late. Over the last month, they are far and away the worst goaltending team, allowing 4.5 goals per game. Only the Anaheim Ducks have also allowed more than 4 goals per game in that stretch. The Wild are scoring the 7th-most goals in that same span, and Kaprizov should lead that way in that continuing tonight.
