Best NHL player props bets Wednesday 6/22 – Makar helps on the powerplay

Makar - Avalanche

The back-to-back defending Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning reminded everyone why they are the champs on Monday night. They dominated the Colorado Avalanche, winning 6-2 and getting right back into the series. With game 3 on Wednesday, we see if the Lightning can even the series or if the Avalanche can take a commanding 3-1 series lead.  We’ve looked through the game to find the best player prop, available at BetMGM Sportsbook.

Cale Makar Over 0.5 powerplay points (+135)

Not much went right for the Avalanche in Game 3 — except for the powerplay. They continued their success with the man advantage, going 2-for-4 in such situations with Cale Makar recording an assist on both goals. The Colorado powerplay has been hot all postseason, ranking 1st out of all teams in the playoffs at 33.9 percent, and it has been even hotter in this series (5-for-11 for a 45.5 percent success rate).

With Makar quarterbacking the top powerplay unit, that has given him numerous chances to convert — and convert he has. Makar ranks 2nd out of all players in the postseason in powerplay points with 11, with 3 of those points coming this series. With the Avalanche having at least 3 powerplay opportunities per game and scoring a powerplay goal in every game in the series, this is a good spot to bet on Makar over 0.5 powerplay points.
