There is only 1 game to go in the college football season and it’s not until next Monday, so college basketball is heating up at just the right time for sports fans. Conference competition in the Power 5 is finally getting going, and what a menu we have on Tuesday featuring Mississippi State vs Tennessee, Kansas State vs Texas and Virginia vs Pittsburgh.

Let’s take a look at my 3-team mega parlay for Wednesday.

Michigan -3 (-110)

Iowa State ML (+140)

Wake Forest +10.5 (-110)

Parlay odds: +774

For this parlay we are going with 1 favorite against the spread, 1 underdog plus the points and 1 underdog on the money line. Here is a breakdown of each leg.

Michigan -3 over Penn State (-110)

The Nittany Lions are in fine form, winners of 5 in a row to go along with an 11-3 overall record (2-1 in the Big Ten). However, keep in mind that this is a team that has taken 3 losses to opponents outside the top 25 (Virginia Tech, Clemson and Michigan State). Michigan also finds itself unranked, but there is no denying the talent that head coach Juwan Howard has at his disposal. Hunter Dickinson is one of the best centers in college basketball and Jett Howard – the coach’s son – has made an instant impact as a freshman (14.6 ppg). The Wolverines just humiliated Maryland 81-46 on New Year’s Day and I think they can keep the momentum going. It may not make up for the football team’s loss in the College Football Playoff semifinals, but at least it’s something.

Iowa State ML over Oklahoma (+140)

Oklahoma lost to Sam Houston earlier this season, 52-51 on November 7. That was the Sooners’ opening game, but it’s a bad result that cannot be forgotten. They also may still be reeling just a bit from a tough 70-69 setback against Texas at home on New Year’s Eve. Iowa State comes in ranked #25 thanks to a 10-2 record (1-0 Big 12). The Cyclones just beat #12 Baylor 77-62 this past Saturday, getting 23 points from Gabe Kalscheur. They are giving up a mere 57.3 ppg, good for 9th-best in the nation, and are #22 in field-goal percentage defense. An outright upset would hardly be surprising.

Wake Forest +10.5 over North Carolina (-110)

Wake Forest has suffered 2 blowout losses on the road – 77-57 at Clemson and 81-57 at Rutgers. However, it can definitely be argued that 2 games is much to small of a sample size to make any sweeping generalizations. Aside from having to go into the hostile environment of Chapel Hill, there is a lot to like about the Demon Deacons. They are 10-4 (2-1 ACC) and are coming off back-to-back victories over Duke and Virginia Tech. Four different players are averaging in double figures, led by Tyree Appleby at 18.4 ppg. As for North Carolina, it is once again looking like a team that will simply go through the motions until things start really mattering in March. A spread of +10.5 is too big to bypass.
