The college football season is heating up with a huge slate of Week 5 action. There are two all-top 10 battles (Arkansas vs Georgia and Cincinnati vs Notre Dame) plus No. 1 Alabama against 12th-ranked Ole Miss.

We have free picks on the side and total for all of the big games, which you can view in our NCAAF picks tab. Make sure to also catch up on all our analysis articles in our college football news section. For now we are talking about teasers, and for these we are shifting lines by 6 points. Let’s dive right into the best ones for Week 5.

Virginia +10 (6-point tease from +4) over Miami (FL)

Week 5 kicks off on Thursday night with an ACC tilt between Miami and Virginia. The Hurricanes eased past Central Connecticut State 69-0 this past Saturday, but quarterback D’Eriq King missed that contest because of a shoulder injury and it doesn’t sound like he will be ready for this one. A short week doesn’t help in terms of recovery, so the Hurricanes will have to plan for another QB platoon of Jake Garcia and Tyler Van Dyke. Garcia and Van Dyke fared well enough against CCSU, but CCSU by no means is Virginia. UVA signal-caller Brennan Armstrong leads the nation with 426.3 passing yards per game. He also has 13 touchdowns compared to only 3 interceptions. The Canes are surrendering the second-most passing yards per game in the ACC (245.8), so this does not appear to be a good matchup for them. Getting 4 points is nice because it’s more than a field goal; getting the key number of 10 is obviously even better.

BYU -2.5 (6-point tease from -8.5) over Utah

BYU heads into this game undefeated with wins against Arizona State and Utah. Utah State is 3-1 with its only loss coming to Boise State. BYU’s defense has played well up to this point, surrendering only 19.3 ppg. Utah State has a fine offense with a quality QB in Logan Bonner, who has 959 yards and 7 touchdowns but also 5 interceptions. Look for BYU’s defense to take advantage of Bonner’s tendency to turn the ball over and keep this Utah State team from scoring points early. BYU’s offense is more talented than that Utah State and the Aggies probably aren’t going to be able to keep up on either side of the ball. I love teasing across two key numbers, in this case 7 and 3. The Cougars no longer have to win by more than a touchdown; heck, winning by just a field goal would now cover this adjusted spread. You have to like it.

West Virginia -1 (6-point tease from -7) over Texas Tech

Texas Tech goes into this Big 12 showdown at 3-1 with its lone loss coming to Texas last week. But that was a horrendous 70-35 shellacking, so needless to say the Red Raiders are reeling. West Virginia is 2-2 with an early loss to a solid Maryland team and a competitive affair against Oklahoma last week. Texas Tech’s offense is good enough to score points and keep this game close, but West Virginia’s defense should have the edge. The Mountaineers have been dominant on that side of the ball through 4 outings. In what will likely be a much more low-scoring game than the one the Red Raiders played last weekend, a tease from -1 to -7 on West Virginia could come in handy.
