If you thought the FIFA Club World Cup would slow down, you are dead wrong, as the group stage continues with 4 more games on Saturday. As of Friday morning, I’ve gone 7-3 on my Club World Cup best bets so far, and I’m looking to continue that success here. Here’s the slate for Saturday’s matchups:

  • Mamelodi Sundowns vs Borussia Dortmund – 12 PM ET, DAZN
  • Inter Milan vs Urawa Red Diamonds – 3 PM ET, DAZN
  • Fluminense vs Ulsan Hyundai – 6 PM ET, DAZN
  • River Plate vs Monterrey – 9 PM ET, TBS

It’s the second round of games for Groups E and F, and I’ll be targeting both games in Group E, as Inter Milan takes on the Urawa Reds while River Plate battles Monterrey.

Inter Milan vs Urawa Red Diamonds best bets: Inter -1.5 and Both Teams to Score in the First Half – No (-129)

Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing.

The second game on Saturday’s slate pits Inter Milan against Urawa Red Diamonds, and I expect the Italians to roll. Inter battled Monterrey to a 1-1 tie in their opening game, and the Mexican side showed they can compete with Europe’s best. Both teams had plenty of chances to win the game, and I cashed my best bet on both teams finding the back of the net. I expect a different story for Inter here, as their defense should get back into form. Outside the Champions League, Inter defended very well, as they posted a shutout in each of their final 3 Serie A games. Additionally, both teams failed to score in the first half in 9 of Inter’s final 10 Serie A contests.

Urawa Red Diamonds played better than their 3-1 scoreline will show, as they had chances to come back against River Plate in their opening game. However, a mix-up between the GK and CB in the second half proved costly, and things should be much more difficult against this Inter squad. The Italian side won 14 of their 24 Serie A games this year by at least 2 goals, and they need to win this game by a wide margin if they want to qualify for the knockout round, especially after River Plate won by 2+. Expect Inter Milan to control this game and win by 2+ goals in what should be a quieter first half.

My Pick: Same Game Parlay – Inter -1.5 and Both Teams to Score in the First Half – No (-129 at FanDuel)

River Plate vs Monterrey predictions: Both Teams to Score – Yes (-125)

Odds available at BetMGM at time of publishing.

Saturday’s finale is a fantastic matchup, as River Plate will take on Monterrey at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. Both teams will feel good after their opening match, as River Plate sits atop the group, while Monterrey grabbed a point against Inter, who were the favorites to win the group entering the competition. I said this above, but Monterrey played extremely well and may feel like they should’ve left Tuesday’s match with all 3 points. The Mexican side took the lead in the first half thanks to a looping header from CB Sergio Ramos, but Inter equalized in the 42nd minute due to a failed offside trap. They had chances to win in the second half, as Sergio Canales hit a shot from 25 yards out off the right post in the 64th minute, but they couldn’t convert.

Conversely, River Plate converted their chances on Tuesday, capitalizing on multiple mistakes by the Urawa Red Diamonds. 17-year-old sensation and future Real Madrid player Franco Mastantuono didn’t have his best game, but ST Sebastian Driussi and RW Facundo Colidio led the front line with a goal apiece. As well as River Plate took advantage of their chances, I don’t feel like they played that much better than the Japanese side, and River Plate was actually outscored on xG 0.91 to 1.09.

Now, River Plate will go up against a Monterrey side that consistently scores, as they’ve found the back of the net in 29 of their last 30 matches in all competitions. However, the Mexican squad isn’t great in the back, as their opponents have scored in 24 of those 30 games. Additionally, River Plate has found the back of the net in 14 of their previous 15 matches in all competitions and 11 consecutive games.

My Pick: Both Teams to Score – Yes (-125 at BetMGM)
