We’re in the final week of FIFA Club World Cup group stage matches, and Group E and Group F will be wrapped up on Wednesday. Make sure you check out my picks for today’s games, as I’m 10-4 with my 2025 FIFA Club World Cup predictions thus far. I’m hoping to keep this record going as I preview Wednesday’s slate, which you can see below:
- Borussia Dortmund vs Ulsan HD – 3 PM ET
- Mamelodi Sundowns vs Fluminense – 3 PM ET
- Inter Milan vs River Plate – 9 PM ET
- Urawa Red Diamonds vs Monterrey – 9 PM ET
Like the other groups, all four teams will kick off at the same time to ensure each group finalizes at the same time. Here are the current standings for both groups:
Group E:
- River Plate – 4 Points (+2 Goal Differential)
- Inter Milan – 4 Points (+1 Goal Differential)
- Monterrey – 2 Point (+0 Goal Differential)
- Urawa Red Diamonds – 0 Points (-3 Goal Differential)
Group F:
- Fluminense – 4 Points (+2 Goal Differential)
- Borussia Dortmund – 4 Points (+1 Goal Differential)
- Mamelodi Sundowns – 3 Points (+0 Goal Differential)
- Ulsan HD – 0 Points (-3 Goal Differential)
Although the two Asian teams are already eliminated, the other three teams will be playing for a chance to advance to the Round of 16. Let’s get into my predictions for the Borussia Dortmund vs Ulsan HD and Urawa Red Diamonds vs Monterrey matchups, which you can fade or follow at any of the soccer betting sites.

Borussia Dortmund vs Ulsan HD best bets: Over 2.5 Goals and Serhou Guirassy to Score or Assist (-114)

Group F kicks off the action on Wednesday, and while Fluminense currently sits atop the group on goal differential, I anticipate that Borussia Dortmund will leapfrog them to win the group. The Germans have underwhelmed thus far, as they drew the Brazilian squad 0-0 in their opening match before beating Mamelodi Sundowns in a blistering 4-3 victory. Although they have 4 points, they’ve actually been outplayed in both games based on xG. However, they should be able to turn things around against an Ulsan HD squad that’s already eliminated.
The Korean squad lost both games this tournament, but they put up decent fights in both matches. They fell 1-0 to Mamelodi Sundowns and had a 2-1 lead against Fluminense, but the Brazilian squad scored 3 goals in the last 25 minutes to pick up a 4-2 victory. They’ve taken a counterattacking approach, as they’ve mustered 32% and 30% possession in their two games, and I anticipate a similar approach today. Now, it will be interesting to see how quickly Dortmund can score, as they struggled against Fluminense, but things seemed to turn around in their last game.
Although Dortmund’s opening game was a 0-0 draw, this squad usually plays in games filled with goals. The Bundesliga squad’s final 10 matches of the 2024/25 season finished with 3+ goals and averaged 4.4 goals per contest. Additionally, Serhou Guirassy has been the main man for this Dortmund side, as he has scored or assisted in 8 of their previous 10 games, including a goal against Mamelodi Sundowns last match. Ulsan HD is more than capable of scoring themselves, as the Korean side has a goal in 4 of their last 5 games. Expect a high-scoring affair with Guirassy involved in at least 1 goal.

Urawa Red Diamonds vs Monterrey predictions: Monterrey 3-Way ML and Over 1.5 Goals (-105)

For my second pick tomorrow, I’m going to Group E. Although the two top teams are facing off, I love the matchup between Monterrey and Urawa Red Diamonds. These two squads have collected just 2 points between them, but Monterrey still has a chance to win this group if Inter Milan vs River Plate ends in a draw. The Mexican side has taken a conservative approach in both games, and they’ve scored just 1 goal this tournament, thanks to a header from CB Sergio Ramos. However, I don’t anticipate that will be the case against this Japanese squad.
Urawa Red Diamonds are headed home after playing Monterrey, but they will leave with their heads held high after battling Inter Milan and River Plate to a 2-1 and 3-1 defeat. They led Inter for 77 minutes and had a chance to draw level against River Plate, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they could find the back of the net against Monterrey. However, I don’t anticipate that the Mexican side will be as conservative in this game, as they should feel like this is a game they can win, AND they have to win if they want to advance.
Monterrey has played two low-scoring games at this tournament, which is atypical for this team. Their final 10 games of the 2024/25 Liga MX season averaged 3.0 goals per game, and 8 of their 10 last wins in Mexico featured 2+ goals. They have the experience and talent to advance with a win, and I expect them to get the job done in a match with at least 2 goals.
