We have put together a 4-pick cross-sport parlay that will take you right through Friday, including picks from Major League Baseball and NFL preseason. Two picks are taken from each sport and a winning ticket would give us a nice payout with odds of +746 at DraftKings Sportsbook.

Let’s break down each of these plays.

MLB: Milwaukee Brewers ML (-140) over Chicago Cubs, 2:20 pm ET

After both the Brewers and Cubs played Thursday afternoon, they are wasting no time getting their weekend series started. The Cubs having starter Keegan Thompson on the mound is likely the only reason this game isn’t priced more in favor of the Brewers. However, he lost his last outing against the lowly Reds — giving up 4 runs in just 1.2 innings. He clearly wasn’t right and may not be 100% healthy.

On the other side, Brewers starter Aaron Ashby has been solid to pick on when facing great lineups. However, that has not the case with the Cubs and Ashby took them down the last time he faced them. Because of Ashby’s success against the Cubs, backing the Brewers will be the play.

NFL Preseason: New England Patriots ML (-210) over Carolina Panthers, 7:00 pm ET

Even though the Patriots lost last weekend, backing them has been profitable in August. In fact, the Patriots are 9-3 over the last 3+ preseasons — including a perfect 3-0 mark in 2021. Those wins were no fluke, either, as they won those games by an average of more than 15 points. The Patriots dropped their last preseason game, but their success in the preseason overall can’t be ignored. As short underdogs, I see value in the better team and coach.

MLB: Los Angeles Angels ML (-140) over Detroit Tigers, 7:10 pm ET

Detroit is the 2nd-worst team in the American League and has been the lowest-scoring team the entire year. The Tigers are going with 2nd-year starter Matt Manning for just his 6th start of 2022. He just allowed 10 hits and 4 runs to the White Sox and Detroit has lost back-to-back starts made by Manning.

Lefty Patrick Sandoval will be opposite him for the Angels. He, too, is coming off a loss but has allowed 2 or fewer runs in each of his last 3 starts. Now with Mike Trout returning and an advantageous matchup against a young Tigers starter, Sandoval should get more than enough run support for a series-opening win.

NFL Preseason: New Orleans Saints +3 (-105) over Green Bay Packers, 8:00 pm ET

Green Bay isn’t expected to play Aaron Rodgers or its other key pieces in this preseason matchup. That being said, the Saints are not likely to play many of their starters, either. Jameis Winston didn’t play last week against the Texans because of a foot injury, but the Saints’ starting quarterback should play barring any setbacks. Even if Winston doesn’t suit up, Andy Dalton and second-year QB Ian Book should do just fine in his absence.

New Orleans looked excellent last week despite most starters sitting. As a unit, the Saints forced three turnovers, six punts and allowed just three third-down conversions on 12 attempts against Houston. New Orleans shouldn’t pull any punches defensively, making this contest into a lower-scoring affair. For that reason, backing the Saints with the points will be the play.
