Jannik Sinner is an even bigger favorite at this year’s French Open than Rafael Nadal ever was during his heyday. That’s not to say that Sinner is Nadal – certainly not at this point in his career, and especially not on clay. The point is that Nadal never played at Roland Garros without any of his top rivals in the field. In 2026, Sinner will play in Paris with his only rival missing. Carlos Alcaraz is sidelined by a wrist injury, leaving the top-ranked Italian seemingly without any challengers at the tennis season’s second Grand Slam.
So, is Sinner a lock to lift La Coupe des Mousquetaires for the first time in his career? Although it seems like it, guys like Novak Djokovic, Alexander Zverev, Ben Shelton, Casper Ruud, Rafael Jodar, Arthur Fils and Daniil Medvedev will have other ideas.
Let’s take a look at the Roland Garros outright odds and discuss some of the best bets to make.

French Open tennis 3-star best bet: Daniil Medvedev (+6000)
I wouldn’t back Medvedev – at least not as a big favorite – in individual matches on the money line or against a spread because he can blow so hot and cold. On the futures market, however, the 29-year-old Russian has great value – especially as a huge longshot. Medvedev has won a Grand Slam title before (2021 U.S. Open), is a former French Open quarterfinalist (2021) and recently took a set off Sinner in the Rome semifinals. The world #7 finds himself in the Italian’s half of the draw, but at least he isn’t in the same quarter. Don’t put it past Medvedev to make a run.
French Open tennis 2-star best bet: Casper Ruud (+2800)
Ruud is a 2-time Roland Garros runner-up (2022, 2023) and he reached the semifinals of this event in 2024. The 27-year-old Norwegian is simply a force on clay, and he proved it again with a final appearance in Rome earlier this month (lost to Sinner). Ruud is where everyone wants to be: in the bottom half of the bracket. That means he cannot meet Sinner until the championship match. The world #17 could run into Djokovic in the fourth round, but this is not the Djokovic of old we are talking about – it’s the old Djokovic. Even on the big stage of a major, Ruud can take him down.
French Open tennis 1-star best bet: Rafael Jodar (+2800)
Will a 19-year-old be able to hold up physically amidst the rigors of having to win 7 best-of-5 matches on clay en route to a French Open title? That remains to be seen. Jodar’s draw is so good, though, that it’s worth taking a flier on him at +2800 odds. The Spaniard is crucially in the bottom half of the bracket, plus the first top-8 seed he would face is a rusty Taylor Fritz – who has been dealing with knee tendinitis and has played only 1 match on clay this spring. Coming off back-to-back quarterfinal efforts in Madrid and Paris, Jodar is among the hottest players on tour other than Sinner.
