There is plenty of great horse racing action to look forward to across America on Thursday, including at Belmont Park race track. Here are four runners whom we think look to be a class above the opposition in their respective races. Let’s dive in and take a look at some potentially lucrative plays.

4:09pm Belmont Park (Race 3) – Following Sea +120

Following Sea built on a promising debut effort with an impressive success at Oaklawn Park in April. That form has been boosted, with the well-beaten second subsequently graduating and then finishing second in an allowance company. He looks to have a very bright future for top connections and if taking another step forward, he won’t be for catching.

5:43pm Belmont Park (Race 6) – Regal Glory +120

Regal Glory had a very light 2020 campaign, winning the Grade 3 Kentucky Downs Ladies Turf Stakes on her final start of the year. Making a winning return in the Plenty of Grace at Aqueduct, she looked in need of the run and ultimately did well to prevail. She should be a different proposition today and the forecast has worked out well, with seven of her 12 wet turf starts resulting in victories. On that basis, she’s clearly the one to beat.

6:15pm Belmont Park (Race 7) – Happy Soul -200

This is not the most imaginative of tips but Wesley Ward’s Happy Soul is a difficult horse to oppose. After going close on debut at Keeneland, she graduated at Belmont a month later, making all the running in dominant fashion. She sets a daunting standard for those with experience and given her $340,000 price tag, connections clearly expect her to be a smart sort in time.

6:45pm Belmont Park (Race 8) – Plum Ali +500

Plum Ali was a smart juvenile for Christophe Clement, winning the Grade 2 Miss Grillo before a strong fourth in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf. She shaped well off the layoff at Keeneland in April, doing all her best work late in a race in which you needed to be on the speed. She should come on plenty for the run and her juvenile form suggests she should have more to offer this term. Stretched out in distance, she may take all the beating.
