There is plenty of great horse racing action to look forward to across America on Monday, including at Belmont Park race track. Here are four runners whom we think look to be a class above the opposition in their respective races. Let’s dive in and take a look at some potentially lucrative plays.

3:34 pm Belmont Park (Race 6) – Gufo +160

Won the Grade 1 Belmont Derby last year and has returned in equalling strong form in 2021. Reappearing in the Grade 1 Man o’ War, he came from out of the clouds to finish second, backing up that performance with another strong top level effort in the Manhattan. A deep closer, he should get a strong enough pace to aim at for today’s drop in grade. He’s yet to finish outside the show at Belmont and if replicating his Grade 1 efforts at this lower level, he should be tough to contain in the closing stages.

4:40 pm Belmont Park (Race 8) – First Captain -200

Costing an enormous $1,500,000 as a yearling, he’s unbeaten in two career starts to date, both at Belmont. He was a very comfortable winner of an allowance contest last time and likely would have won by further had he kept his mind on the job throughout. Totally unexposed for top connections, the best is surely yet to come and he’s an exciting prospect for Claude McGaughey. Upped in grade, he can continue this progressive sequence and remain unbeaten.

5:12 pm Belmont Park (Race 9) – Day’s Humor +200

Graduated at the second attempt when scoring at Aqueduct in February, running fairly in allowance company on her next start. Switched to Belmont last time, she posted a career-best performance, collared late on after setting a red-hot gallop in today’s claiming grade. That effort can be upgraded and despite a wide draw in gate nine, her early speed should allow her to cross to the rail and lead. After just four starts, she remains totally unexposed, and can take another positive step for John Kimmel.
