There is plenty of great horse racing action to look forward to across America on Saturday, including at Belmont Park race track. Here are five runners whom we think look to be a class above the opposition in their respective races. Let’s dive in and take a look at some potentially lucrative plays.

1:00 pm Belmont Park (Race 1) – Just Say When +160

Wesley Ward is well known for his exploits with sprinting juveniles and his representative in the opener can get off the mark at the first time of asking. The selection delivered a 52.80 four furlong breeze at Keeneland earlier this month but his worth from the gate have been more impressive, including a 48.40 for the same trip at the same venue last month. Looks capable of helping Joel Rosario improve on his 18% strike-rate (38/216) at this meet.

2:31 pm Belmont Park (Race 4) – Water’s Edge +250

Trainer David Donk’s charge demonstrated ability in five clocked works prior to making a highly promising debut when finishing runner-up, beaten a neck by a more experienced rival in a six furlong maiden special weight event at this venue last month. Given he is likely to have improved for his debut effort and with the extra half-furlong he gets here a further positive he is taken to break his maiden at the second time of asking.

3:04 pm Belmont Park (Race 5) – Coffee Bar +250

Broke her maiden at the second time of asking when taking a maiden special weight at Aqueduct back in January. Had just one subsequent start when finishing a length second the Busanda Stakes over a mile-and-one-eighth at the same venue later that month. Latest clocked work was a 50.09 over four furlongs here earlier this month but the drop back to allowance company is a positive and she is taken to deliver a second career success with Luis Saez up.

4:06 pm Belmont Park (Race 7) – Santa Barbara +100

Aidan O’Brien took this race three years ago with Athena and his representative here can provide the handler with a second victory in this contest. Registered a good neck second in the Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes over one-mile-two-furlongs at The Curragh (good-to-firm) last month. Previously finished fifth in The Oaks at Epsom but she looks to have found her trip and The Curragh maiden winner can double her career tally by registering a first success at the highest level.

5:12 pm Belmont Park (Race 9) – Bolshoi Ballet +140

Winner of his first two starts this year taking including the Group 3 Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial at Leopardstown on his penultimate start. Excuses having been struck into early on when finishing seventh as favourite for the Epsom Derby subsequently. Hails from a leading stable who know what it takes to win this race and he is taken to register a victory with the drop back in trip a further positive with regular pilot Ryan Moore in the saddle.
