There is plenty of great horse racing action to look forward to across America on Saturday, including at Fair Grounds race track. Dating back to August 5 we are up 282.25 units and since March 2 we have turned a profit of 49.1 units. Let’s keep it rolling!

Here are 5 runners we expect to perform well today. It’s time to dive in and discuss these potentially profitable plays.

2:00 pm Fair Grounds (Race 3) – Serape 5/2

Brett Brinkman’s charge has won two of her last three starts including an allowance event by eight-and-a-half-lengths over this trip on a good main track at the start of last month. The daughter of Cinco Charlie made all the running that day having finished third in a stakes contest over an extended six furlongs here prior. A rail draw should prove no issue and she can confirm form with Dreaming of Neany who placed second in the allowance race.

3:02 pm Fair Grounds (Race 5) – Vodka Gimlet 3/1

Has demonstrated good form in stakes company of late winning both starts since returning from a short break. Both of those efforts came at Delta Downs, firstly when winning by two-and-a-quarter-lengths in the Premier Prince Stakes over a mile and then when victorious by a neck over seven furlongs in the Big Drama Stakes. Is usually ridden from mid-pack or off the pace and can complete a hat-trick with Thomas L Pompell booked for the ride.

4:37 pm Fair Grounds (Race 8) – Hendy Woods 5/2

Impressed when winning a stakes event at Kentucky Downs over a mile by four-and-a-quarter-lengths on her penultimate start. Stepped up to Grade 1 company next time out when suffering a heavy defeat having been unable to race prominently when contesting Keeneland’s First Lady Stakes in October. Off the track since the five-year-old advertised her wellbeing with a 47.60 four furlong breeze here a week ago and is taken to defend her unbeaten two-from-two record at this venue.

6:12 pm Fair Grounds (Race 11) – Echo Zulu 3/5

Steve Asmussen’s filly went unbeaten through her two-year-old campaign winning in Grade 1 company on all three starts following a five-and-a-half-length success in a maiden special weight at Saratoga in July. The daughter of Gun Runner’s season concluded with an impressive all-the-way success when seeing off five rivals by five-and-a-quarter-lengths in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies at Del Mar in November. Comes here fresh and looks poised to make a winning seasonal reappearance with Joel Rosario in the saddle.

6:44 pm Fair Grounds (Race 12) – Epicenter 7/5

The winner of three of his last four starts the son of Not This Time registered his first Graded stakes placing when runner-up in the Grade 3 Lecomte Stakes over a mile-and-a-sixteenth here in January. Impressed when going one better having made all the running in the Grade 2 Risen Star Stakes over a sixteenth further here last month. Represents a top trainer and can help regular pilot Joel Rosario improve on his 24% strike-rate (6/25) at this venue.
